The hour long show aired opposite of NBC-TV's "Little House On The Prairie," and CBS-TV's "Rhoda" and "Phyllis" comedy block. The entire series consisted of 20 episodes of which the final 8 were produced by Dick Clark. The opening musical theme song was set to an orchestrated version of Captain & Tennille's Grammy winning hit song "Love Will Keep Us Together." Every show closed with the first verse of their own composition entitled "We Never Really Say Goodbye." Their series was a ratings success and could have continued beyond the first season. Instead, Captain & Tennille opted to focus on their music and touring career. After the initial run of The Captain & Tennille Variety Show, they starred in 3 follow-up ABC-TV specials, two of which aired in the spring of 1978 and the third in March 1979. Expand
