While The Flag ponders the whereabouts of Shirley and Spiro’s flag, it raises other, broader, variously resonant questions too, questions concerning how symbols and icons become significant, as well as how stories are told and myths are disseminated.
An absorbing film by Michael Tucker and Petra Epperlein, has both [insight and subtlety], making it as rewarding as it is thought-provoking.
While the documentary doesn't view the day through rose-colored glasses, it lets us approach that time in a new, less painful way.
The Flag is precisely the sort of film we should be making and watching at this particular distance from the attacks.
