The Flash is one of the most pleasant surprises of the fall season. It's one of CBS' best new shows, and it is spectacular- looking. [20 Sept 1990, p.G1]
I thought this show was pretty good, then they added FIRESTORM and it blew up!
this show kicks butt, when firestorm is on it.
so its a average show, except that firestorm boosts it from 6/10 to 8/10.
did I mention firestorm.....?
The Flash gives us a new taste of what entertainment and it's difference with arrow makes it very special as this show was lighter and funnier. Still like arrow better, but this is great
The Flash has a wry, self-mocking sense of humor, too. "I think you've been reading too many comic books," Barry says at one point. [20 Sept 1990, p.E1]
The title role is filled quite solidly by John Wesley Shipp, who has won Emmy Awards for his work in the daytime soaps ''As the World Turns'' and ''Santa Barbara.''
There's a sophistication at play in this show. The acting (Shipp has won two Emmys for his work in daytime soaps) is refreshingly unmannered. The supporting cast is solid, and the sets, costumes and soundtrack all work to create a distinctive TV world. [20 Sept 1990, p.15]
The Flash has neither the humor of "Dick Tracy" nor, even though much of its action occurs at night, the brooding darkness of "Batman." Despite great swells of action music, moreover, it lacks a true comic book sensibility that would dramatically set it apart from the rest of prime time.
Despite a reportedly huge budget, the special effects look tacky and the writing has no wit. The Flash is nothing more than the reincarnation of "The Incredible Hulk." [20 Sept 1990, p.81]
I was surprised I enjoyed this show. The acting is above average and the effects actually aren't terrible. I enjoyed most of the episodes. Some of them went really slow, but most of them were nice time killers. It may not be as great as the current show, but it is still a great thing to watch if you are dying to get more flash.
Dumb, dopey very childish superhero genre that skews very narrowly into that pre-adolescent CW audience. Short on original plots, character, and seriousness. You have to be under 14 to like this show.
Suppose you do an experiment which goes haywire and affects someone
life. What do you tell him? "I'm really sorry it went out of control",
"I don't know what happened. Are you okay?". In this TV series the
scientist tells the hero "EVerything's gonna be okay". **** cheesy,
lame, we've heard it a million times and it doesn't make sense. You
can't control the universe so you're never in a position to say that.
A half-sister who calls her "brother"'s life sadistic. Nerd. When in
reality he's just enjoying doing his research. What gives her the right
to tell a guy that his life is sadistic? He's happy to live his life
however he wants. I felt that she was a major **** passing around her
**** judgments on other people.
That half-sister tells her brother "since we grew up together we are
like brothers and sisters but actually we are not. So it's going to be
awkward". Sounds completely ****. Nothing has to be "awkward". Why
will it be awkward when both of them are experiencing something common?
Does growing up together make you brothers-sisters? No it does not.
They're not blood relations. If they want they can keep their relation
as brother-sister. If they don't want they could be friends or more
than friends. She's the one who's defining the relationship as
brother-sister. And then she says its going to be awkward. Yes it will.
It's like pointing at your friend and saying "hey buddy. You and me
grew up together but are going to be like professor-pupil for the rest
of our lives. But we won't be. This will be awkward". See how ****
that sounds? The camera cuts - complete jack **** stomach-cringing.
Flash is running and we cut to several people's faces who are not just
amazed or surprised they've completely gone bonkers. And that
expression is repeated over and over and over again throughout the
episodes.
The guy whose helping Flash with costume and microphone connection -
how does he act? Eyebrows completely raised,
half-speaking,half-laughing, shakes his head as if he's saying "No, no,
no" but what is he actually saying? "This suit will not tear up at high
speeds. It has built in sensors". That's how you emote while you say
that sentence?? This whole character direction is a big ball of poop.
Story/plot: There's nothing much in the plot. It's probably marketed
for ages 6+. Villain. Bam BM. Cops's faces - stunned. Female
****-half-sis's face - completely stunned. Flash. Flash. Flash. Bam.
Bam. Fight. Sentimental dialogs between Flash and his horrible sis. Episode
over. If you could tolerate the **** that green arrow was you'll like
flash too. Both were equally awful with horrible camera direction.
Police officers who take his random speech to heart. That's ****
too. Someone tells you 'hey looks like there are 6 tracks here. There
were 6 people.. Ooohhh.... what's this? looks like they all had a size
ten. Shoes similar to yours captain.. oh I don't mean that you're a
suspect". If someone tells you this how would you react? If you're a
normal human being you'll assure him saying "don't worry about that. I
know you don't mean me. Just carry on with the investigation". Or
you'll probably say "haha.. you don't say". Or something similar. What
is the reaction of those cops? The head twitches his lips. His partners
turn around and leave them alone as if the guy doesn't know what he's
talking about. What an extreme amount of judgmental behavior. These
aren't normal human beings. These are all ****. The whole lot of
them are ****.
