The good Lord created sitcoms like The Soul Man as relaxing, relatable humor with heart, and Cedric's new creation isn't about to mess with His template.
Something about this TV Land sitcom really evokes the "good old days" of the multi-camera format. The chemistry between Cedric The Entertainer and Niecy Nash is completely believable, and TV Land manages to throw in its standard racy lines here and there making it fit right in during its 10PM time slot.
One of the best sitcoms of the 2012 season. An amazingly funny family comedy that is an explosion of fun for everyone. Watch this once and you will laugh as hard as you did in a long time. Every Wednesday at 10, watch it on TV Land.
The show, warm and cheesy, fits right in as another nacho plate on the network's menu of comfort food, another new sitcom that plays like a re-enactment of an old one.
The Soul Man is an embarrassment because it is done and written by people who know very little about the Christian faith and what it takes to be a preacher. It is done carelessly. A preacher is a human being, no doubt, but he is someone who fights all temptations such as anger, and attraction to worldly things, especially those that are fought by any Christian in everyday life, leave alone a preacher. Besides, the language used by the "preacher" and even his father, who is supposed to be a retired preacher, is very unrefined. It is more like street language. No Christian preacher would call someone "dog" or "say what the hell" etc. No preacher will rejoice in a trip to Las Vegas.. It is just done with very little attention to details. Whatever happened to clean, meaningful and sophisticated shows like Seventh Heaven, Little House on the Prairies, and Bill Cosby?
It needs to be cleaned up a bit to make it decent enough for children to watch too.
I mean get real guys, what are we supposed to tell our children when they ask what
You mean by lack of booty makes you moody??? You don't have to be nasty to be funny.
Truly talented people can entertain without all that.
