Perhaps eight episodes would have been more effective in creating a tightly coiled season with more streamlined stories and less meandering between major story turns. In the end, it feels like a very densely plotted season that doesn’t mind sacrificing the potency of emotional moments trying to pay everything off. Read full review

The Umbrella Academy is an impressionistic version of what a TV show should look like, all anthropomorphic monkeys in bike gangs and angry Amish mobs (both of which have little bearing on the narrative). But the characters are so charming and likeable, the aesthetic so beguiling, that it’s almost easy to forget that you have no idea what’s going on. Or at least no longer care. Read full review

For a show featuring an openly trans hero, a drunk who communicates with the dead, a time-traveling senior citizen in the body of a 15-year-old, a half-man/half-ape with a heart of gold, and various other colorful characters, this is a show scared to really break new ground and relies on the illusion of change. I liked this season of the umbrella academy (outside of Allison) and I do think its building itself to a great 4th and final season. I enjoyed the plot of this season but I do feel that a) the sparrow academy were wasted and b) Allison's character turn was a bit grating. Just an awkward march through endless talking and getting absolutely nothing done. By the end, there are far more questions than answers.… Expand

Ugh, this season was crap. Enough said. The first season were so good I don’t get how they messed up the story so badly. Sad to see it crash like this.

I enjoyed the other seasons, but they really had to push their woke BS in this season. I can't even finish this trash and I will not be watching any future seasons!

The first two seasons were good. This season's writing was incredibly sloppy. The new Sparrow cast are terrible actors, and some of the Umbrella cast have replaced their personalities with something unrecognizable. You're reminded in nearly every scene with Vanya that she's now transgenderThe first two seasons were good. This season's writing was incredibly sloppy. You're reminded in nearly every scene with Vanya that she's now transgender and it's stunning and brave. Much of the storyline is completely unbelievable toward the end of the season. Robert Sheehan was fantastic as usual, but unfortunately he couldn't carry the terrible writing. Woke garbage.… Expand
