Season 1 Review: Yellowstone basically offers conflict for the sake of conflict, and character for the sake of character. TV's family epics run from the absurd to the serious; Sheridan's sits comfortably between them--it's elevated comfort food, well conceived and well prepared, but still, you know, hamburgers and hot dogs, fried chicken and waffles. I just started watching this show and I saw most critics don't like it so I new that meant it would be good. So far into season one great casting, great writing and great acting Kevin Costner always gets negative reviews probably because he does not care what the critics think. He is one ofI just started watching this show and I saw most critics don't like it so I new that meant it would be good. So far into season one great casting, great writing and great acting Kevin Costner always gets negative reviews probably because he does not care what the critics think. He is one of the greatest actors alive today Hollywood will not admit it until he is 80 or 90 years old or after he is gone. They do this with actors who do not play politics with them. I love that about him his movies are always great and like any other actor he has had a couple that didn't do to well in the theaters but over all they are generally big hits because the people love him screw the politics he makes movies he likes now that he has made his money and if you like westerns then you love Kevin Costner. I want to thank him while he still young enough and alive for making movies I not only loved but I could watch with my whole family that is rare today.… Expand

Was really looking forward to this series and have a mixed review. Costner is fantastic as always and the photography is mindblowing.
The let down is the series jumps around too much instead of flowing from series to series which I find frustrating.

Good show, grity and raw, like tvshows used to be before all the woke nonsense of nowadays. Acting is good too.
It's start to get a bit TVish at the end with everything going like a bit too forced in order to "make thing happen".
Overall i enjoy the show. First season only, i don't feel theGood show, grity and raw, like tvshows used to be before all the woke nonsense of nowadays. Acting is good too.

It seems to me that this plays very much to a macho American culture where real men are hard working and playing cowboys and everybody else is just something less. This stereo type gets wearing after a while and I longed for a more subtle nuanced approach to the storyline and acting. Even the daughter is more macho than most men and the gay son just seems to be trodden upon. It is however beautifully shot and its production values are 1st rate.
It appears to be a show out of time, more suited to a few decades ago but I guess this is exactly what appeals to its fan base. I will try and get to 5 episodes (3 currently) in and hope things get better but I see little sign of it at the moment.… Expand

I loved Yellowstone season 1-3. Season 4 was a huge letdown. While the finale answered some “how is this gonna go?” moments…it felt as if the writers just gave up and gave the laziest effort ever. The wedding, the kid storyline is terrible, they treat him horribly and beths reaction to himI loved Yellowstone season 1-3. Season 4 was a huge letdown. The wedding, the kid storyline is terrible, they treat him horribly and beths reaction to him calling her mama was so stupid - could have been such a “moment” but it was just annoying. Jamie’s story and especially Beth’s acting and scenes were just blah. They are overdoing it with Beth’s constant cunning and cold responses. That special thing that made her edgy and quite likable is now just getting cringy. 4 seasons of buildup for a huge moment of secrets to come to light was such a huge disappointment.… Expand
