It’s that focus on family, with Sheldon as an oddity and an outsider but still loved, that makes Young Sheldon sweeter than The Big Bang Theory. ... Although the humor--in the show’s pilot at least--is less reliant on what most people would call “jokes” and more reliant on “a tiny child in a bowtie saying the word ‘brassiere,’” as far as sitcoms go, it’s inoffensive and as comforting as Mrs. Cooper’s tater tots.
With its seventh and final season premiering on February 15, Young Sheldon continues to prove its brilliance as it prepares to wrap up the storylines of its now-beloved characters, all while proving why it has lasted, and excelled, for the past seven years.
I can admit on 100% that this show is awesome. its not the kind of shows that made after a popular show/franchise that made for money and has no spirit and no interesting pilot. this show got good sense of humor, when you watch this show it doesnt feel that you should've watched the show that it made after(The big bang theory), I didn't watch The big bang theory but I watch this and I felt fine about that I didn't watch the big bang theory so i admit that you can watch it before watching the big bang theory. every episode got its different pilot, it's not trying to be family friendly, in the show for example you can see a grandma that drinks alcohol, smoking and gambles and even though its still a show that the whole family can watch, the show talks a lot about religion and if im not mistaken some episodes are mostly about it and also this show got charismatic characters, for example the mom that talk a lot about religion stuff, the older brother georgy that interested a lot in girls and of course the genius and funny sheldon.
Young Sheldon should be the the number 1 show on television I love it’s so light hearted iain armitage should win an Emmy his performance in the show is perfect
Young Sheldon is a smarter, more humorous and heartfelt show than "The Big Bang Theory." Adult Sheldon is entertaining, but young Sheldon is even better.
In many ways this show plays like a cross between “The Wonder Years” and last fall’s “Speechless” only in this one the mother character is likable. Zoe Perry, daughter of Laurie Metcalf (who plays Sheldon’s mom on “BBT”), is a standout in a pilot episode that’s warm and embraceable but not yet essential viewing. But it may get there.
With all these elements working in its favor, scale back on the titular character and give Missy and the mom some more individual airtime and you might have something worth its timeslot.
One thing everybody will be able to agree on, though, is that the 9-year-old version of Sheldon in the Big Bang spinoff Young Sheldon is not ready for prime time or even the pre-dawn hours of a public-access channel. This prequel about Sheldon's childhood in rural Texas, surrounded by an uncomprehending family and a hostile town, is hideously misconceived.
It is not for me.
Big bang theory spin off, based on a younger version of one of the most irritating charcarter of that series.
Aimed toward young audience it looks and feel like a fanfiction.
I love the show. It's one of the few new ones that I'll watch. I was, however, a bit taken back by the end of the Oct. 17 episode in which the sister throws an apple at the head of a boy. Just because he liked someone else. Thirty years ago it may have been funny, but I don't think it is today. I wonder what the reaction would have been if a boy had thrown an apple at her head? It depicts an often ignored double-standard that exists in entertainment these days.
The presence of that kid could bring out the rage in even the Dali Lama. His face is just so unbelievably punchable, and I guess if you didn't enjoy Big Bang theory, you're not the target audience so disliking it shouldn't be a surprise. But good god, what an abysmally unfunny show.
