  2. Negative: 5 out of 35
  1. What I don't like is the ugly non-Namco designed interface and screwy button configuration when plaing with the stylus, which makes it literally impossible to play with the manual transmission. [Jan 2005, p.85]
  2. An instant classic just as the original was while providing a new experience in control. It’s a testament to the capabilities of the DS and worthy of being a launch title.
  3. Looks and feels a little dated (despite it being "new"), and control and gameplay issues combined make for a sometimes frustrating game.
  4. Competent on all levels, offering solid if unexceptional value. [Feb 2005, p.110]
  5. The third issue to be dealt with is the game’s poor AI and atrocious collision detection, items that cry out to be dealt with as a pair.
  6. 25
It fails at presenting a compelling racing game, and more to the point, it fails at presenting a compelling Ridge Racer game, with backward graphics and bollixed controls.

How can this game have a lower score than ridge racer 64. ITS THE SAME GAME. But this is handheld so why have it low on this list? Its a cool classic style ridge racer that the fans should play! Expand

Just an okay game!!! Graphics where primitive and the game has bad collision detection. Music was just okay and the sound affects were nothing special to talk about. Wished Nintendo included nitro like in Namco's PSP release of Ridge Racer. Expand

Not the best game...and clearly needs some more work put into it. The graphics are blocky, collision scripts are mostly likely broken in some way, and the quality of the overall game is not high. Could be better like the 3DS successor

Gameplay is rather poor with poor collision detection, bad turning mechanics, and poor AI.
The Music is a decent mix of dance music from recent years
Presentation is blocky and very disorganized, while the length is rather long...
You won't find much to do afterwards though, maybe wireless multiplayer

    Gameplay: 6/10
    Story: N/A
    Music: 8/10
    Presentation: 4.5/10
    Length: 7/10
    Overall: 6/10

The speed in this game is the best part but the lack of different tracks (only 3 different places), modes, and weak AI oppenents brings this game down. However, you are able to play against 6 friends with one cart. Expand

Kind of entertaining, but difficult to play for any length of time due to the small screen and primitive controls. The touch screen is largely useless though I guess they had to do something with it. Expand
