Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game is a thrilling game that will test even the best drivers in gaming in large, diverse, and expansive maps with challenges all around you.
Satisfied with the purchase. Previously played SnowRunner and missed missions with SUVs. Also liked that we travel to remote places, outside the city. If you lower the engine sound, the birds and music create a calming atmosphere and meditative gameplay.
I never review games. But I needed to say my piece, if only to offset this negativity towards the game. This game is absolutely amazing! If you like exploring and discovering new scenic landscapes on your own (think death stranding) you will love this game! Explorers dream come true, honestly. Plus the game is HUGE so much to explore and challenges to overcome! 10/10
It was a daring gamble for Saber Interactive to revisit the Mudrunner soul by opening up and reflecting on its formula sufficiently to appeal to license veterans and neophytes alike, and Expedition: A Mudrunner Games succeeds with flying colors.
Like its predecessors, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is for a specific type of player who wants a driving game instead of a racing game. The player must enjoy messing around with the intricacies of off-road vehicles and doesn't mind experiencing every driving mishap possible. Expeditions isn't a game for everyone, but for those looking for something different from the norm, it's well worth a shot.
Despite its focus on exploration and strategy, Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game offers a captivating and accessible experience akin to its predecessors, yet its simpler mission design and lack of cooperative play may disappoint fans. However, its beautiful landscapes, solid performance, and extensive content make it a worthwhile adventure.
Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game has a lot of tidying up to do to become what it should be, but there's a wonderfully-rewarding game in there once you've learned its quirks.
Four years have passed since the debut of SnowRunner and I definitey wanted more from Expeditions. What we got is a quick variation of the previous game that enables you to make everything faster with a mini-game. I'm not feeling this "expedition" - this is a dispencer of missions.
edit on my previous review.
Still whomever approved the first map should be sacked. It gives and awful first impression of the rest of the game.
The game is a copy and paste of the previous instalments (cars, upgrades, sound effects, music) with not many if any new features. Drone flying is useful to check the road ahead but too slow and the "explore the area" quests are a pain to complete. Still its fun to ride around and explore the map and the shorter missions are not as nerve wracking as some of the long ones in previous instalments. I guess it's a good way to capture a new audience.
Never change a running system. Basically Expeditions is mostly recycling from Snowrunner dumbed down for console casual players. If you liked Spintires and Mudrunner you better skip this game.
If the game would Stop freezing and lagging it would probably be good but the fact I can't move 5 feet without it stalling/ lagging it's actually making me want to get a refund and never play it again.$70 bucks for a broken game is crazy. Oh and getting to 97% on a scout the area and it freezes and brings me to the main menu has me almost smashing my controller. Id like to stream it and get others too buy it but not with it being this bad. It's kinda stupid.
This game has a really advanced physics-based driving system when traversing over the terrain. It has attention to detail with rocks and plants reacting to your movement. If only some developers could get those little details right with their $70 AAA games, I'm looking at you Square Enix with your FF7 Rebirth garbage. Lazy Square Enix couldn't even make the plants react to your movement, but I digress. Other than the physics, this game is garbage. I don't know what else to praise. I didn't review Snowrunner because I wouldn't even know what to score it. I'm only reviewing this because I have to find an excuse to give a game anything but a 0 so these Metacritic mods could stop lurking on my profile. What I will say is that this game is a downgrade from Snowrunner and it has less content. This feels like Snowrunner DLC. This game only has 3 small maps with 2 of those being deserts. Where is the variety in terrain? There is no asphalt. Sure it's called Mudrunner, but last time that I checked Grand Theft Auto has boats and planes. So the name doesn't excuse lack of roads. The control scheme and UI is a mess. ● The multiplayer is not available at launch. The developers claimed that it will take a few months for it to come out. Are you freaking kidding me? I have to wait over 2 months? Thanks a lot CDPR for normalizing this behavior. This is exactly why I hated No Man's Sky's "comeback" because it encouraged developers to become even lazier. Because journalists and toy-collecting millennials will praise a game more if features are in a "free update" than in launch. Case in point, look at Cyberpunk 2077. Nerds are praising CDPR for adding features like replayable races and police chases 3 years later, whereas a game like GTA V had those features at launch only to get COD/Fortnite levels of hate. And stop saying "free updates" when updates are always free. This game has no big rigs, the missions are boring and tedious with the drone. Also the fact that online was delayed is proof that developers who refuse to give me online are greedy and lazy. I'll give this game a 2, and you're lucky to get that. Then again, it probably deserves that when this $40 game has better water physics than $70 SM2 and FF7RB. I would only recommend for around $10.
