this game is LIFE CHANGING. me one day, a lone sad person. I discovered this game after a youtuber did a video on it, then I thought to myself "since I have a Wii I may as well get this game. once I got the game I inserted it into my Wiis disc drive, A N D T H E N I S A W I T A L L . . .
As someone who made this review to counter T3rr0r's bad opinion of this game, this is review is already bad. But I have owned the game, and 2014 me really enjoyed it. When I was young, the only games we got were the games on display at my parent's workplace, so when I got this for Christmas, I was stoked. I enjoyed this game so much, that I think it was the cause of my Wii's death in 2018. But yeah, it's a great game, also see, this review was **** Anyway, T3rr0r is wrong, it's a great game and the only problem with it is the timer minigame.
I think this game is really fun! It contains some of the best mini games I've ever played, but some of the worst as well.
To start, There are 6 areas in this game. Only 3 areas are open to you from the start. Each area has 5 mini games, but the 5th mini game is locked off until you beat the NPCs with the 4 games first. Once you unlock all five mini games, you have to play and win against the NPCs again to unlock a new area.
Something that I remembered when playing for the first time is the NPC feels very unfair. How did they manage to row the canoe so fast, and why did i stuck at the start? They made me felt like i didn't know how to play the game. It did not help that some mini game is badly designed. Like, in the climbing mini game, the screen follows to the character who is at the top. If you slip up by obstacles a lot, you will get left behind and the screen will move away from you. This make dodging the obstacles more difficult, and you fall down even more.
But, as I played more and more, I understood how the game works, won most of the mini game and unlocked all areas. I'm still bad at the canoe racing game though.
Still, this was my first Wii game played on the Wii. It was really fun for me. I've seen people comparing this to Mario party. I've never played Mario party, so compare to that, this game must be really bad. However, if you ignore some of the bad mini game and the way the NPCs make you feel dumb at the beginning of the game, this game is really fun.
Despite what the title says Family Party 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun is not Great, it's not even good, it is bad, it is really bad. You can only play 12 of the 30 mini games at the start and the rest have to be unlocked overtime, this wouldn't be so bad if all of the games you get at the start weren't complete garbage waggle fests. A lot of the mini games boil down to you aimlessly shaking the wii remote in a boring and unresponsive way. Not helping things is the fact that you only get a little blurb in the bottom corner at the very start of each mini game that tells you what to do. It is very easy to miss this blurb and therefore have no idea how to actually play the mini game. However even if you do figure out how each mini game works you will still be bored out of your mind due to some mini games going on forever. Seriously a bunch of these mini games feel like they never end because either they have too many long turn taking rounds (because none of the developers seemed to figure out how to program simultaneous game play, something that Mario party already perfected on multiple occasions by the time this game came out) or they have cut scenes that just drag on and on and on and on ****!
Overall, Family Party 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun is one of the worst party games ever conceived. With mini games that go on for too long, unresponsive motion controls that just didn't need to be there and the fact that 18 out of the 30 mini games are unlocks that almost no-one will ever see in their lifetime due to everything that I just mentioned plus a whole slue of other problems. The only outdoor fun you will be having with this game is throwing it into a pond of hungry alligators. This has been SammyKenobi and Family Party 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun gets a 2/10.
