Anyone who reveled in the joy of the NES "Excitebike" and the original "Motocross Maniacs" will undoubtedly love this update. [April 2002, p.71]

Fast, fun, and impossible to put down. [Summer 2003, p.33]

Maniacs will keep you happy and occupied on the go, even if some of the characters and modes are hokey. [Apr 2002, p.89]
  4. Its light-hearted approach is suitable to that type of play and I imagine Motocross will find a good niche there because of its Saturday morning cartoon treatment of motorcycle racing.
  5. Nintendo Power
    66
    Excellent fun. [Apr 2002, p.152]
  6. Sadly, the AI is very predictable, so after you've gotten the hang of the game, you'll have no trouble winning almost every race.
  7. The core gameplay is spoiled by a rare complaint for a racing game: it's just too darn fast.

If you don't take the loops or the jumps higher, you will progress through the level pretty fast but you won't gain any gas or nitro. To complete all three laps, you must have balance. Too bad this game's gravity is way overpowered, it takes out the fun and challenge of jumps. Even with nitro, going off a jump drops you to the ground way too fast. And the game against CPUs is just too easy. You don't even need to use the d-pad for the majority of levels, you just end up landing fine most of the time. Hammering nitros is usually enough to win the race.

It is fun, but short lasted unless you have a friend to link up with. Then the actual route you take through the course will matter much more!
