Go! Go! Break Steady has taken two good fun arcade elements and mixed them up into a really cool package.
Go! Go! Break Steady isn't really unique, and it isn't really a must-get game, but it's a successful mishmash of three genres that, in my experience, don't usually go together — hip-hop, puzzle and rhythm.
If you're into music and/or puzzle games at all, Break Steady is worth a gander for its single-player and versus throwdowns. [June 2008, p.77]
Go Go Break Steady 's mixture of two gameplay styles sounds interesting, but it doesn't work out as well as you'd hope.
It’s difficult to label Go! Go! Break Steady’s use of two genres as a hybrid, because the rhythm–action and puzzle elements sit side by side, rather than one informing the other in any inventive way. [Oct 2008, p.121]
As an Xbox Live Arcade title, and priced at 800 points the scales of rhythm and puzzle gaming justice render a verdict of “diminished responsibility” and consign Go Go Break Steady to the swiftly played and forgotten pile.
