Overall, Bottom of the 9th is a very well designed and enjoyable game that does an excellent job capturing the strategy and fun of baseball. Games are quick, unlike baseball itself, and can be very short indeed if the home team scores early. Fans of the sport will certainly enjoy this one, as will competitive gamers of any stripe. No, it won't be to everyone's tastes, but if you're a fan of board games then there's definitely a lot to love here. And if you're a fan of baseball you might understand some of the things the game says to you. Either way there's a good deal of fun to suck out of Bottom of the 9th. Don't write it off if you don't fit into both, or either of the camps, it's designed for. Just go with it, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
Bottom of the 9th is a really cool take on a sports game. It looks and feels almost nothing like most other video game sports, yet it captures the feeling of real sports in ways that a lot of other games don't. This magic is only at its best when playing with others though, and finding people to play Bottom of the 9th with can often feel like more trouble than it's worth.
Although the conversion is excellent, there are some things that you simply can't capture in digital form.
I hate how much it feels like the dice are intended to roll against me, because otherwise Bottom of the 9th is a solid example of digital board game conversion. I want to say it’s well worth checking out if your a fan of the regular game, or even if you’ve never played it before, but it feels too much like the random number generator that is the dice rolls just isn’t up to snuff. Even then I’d probably recommend it if the frustration of near constant (and seemingly purposeful) failures didn’t undercut most of the fun.

Summary It's a beautiful day here at the ballpark, and this game has been a squeaker! Everyone expected the league leaders to roll into town and easily defeat the home team. But the scrappy upstarts have played the game of their lives and managed to keep the score tied right until the end. Their fatigue is showing and now it's their last chance....
