Blackbay Asylum is the complete opposite of a perfect game, but there’s a good brain to go with the cheesily gory heart hiding under its ugly psychopathic exterior.
I didn’t find the main (virtually only) character endearing, and that took a lot out of my experience with BBA. It shows glimmers of something incredible. I’d be very interested to see future title’s from the developer.
Игра довольно забавная ))... если по-чесноку
Смешной и трогательный главный герой ...качок-маньяк-убийца с плюшевым медведем
Не знаю....я проникся....может я сам маньяк?
Alright, let's get one thing straight. The tone of this game is amazingly spot-on for whatever they were attempting to go for. The main character comes across as disconnected from the real world to the point that the setting and his interaction with the world around him are genuinely interesting enough to keep you entertained... For about thirty minutes or so.
The 'charm' of the game gets very boring very fast, and ultimately comes across as lazy as the game progresses. The 'lunk' main character in his 'special' outfit gets moreso creepy and weird than engaging. Even if the character was remotely interesting because of his personality, that is instantly buried beneath the humor that the game tried to keep up for a painfully long time.
The art direction of the game isn't too bad all things considered. It is interesting and noticeably detailed enough that it relays the images across in the proper tone, but this too is destroyed with the boring story and characters. It felt like things ran a little too long for anything to become truly enjoyable.
It has voice acting, for what it's worth. The controls aren't terrible, the interface is pretty bad though. The animation isn't anything too amazing, but is enjoyable enough to pass for something that reminds me of early 2000's.
I feel like the game could have done better if it put in more effort towards making it's characters and story more fleshed out and interesting, instead of settling for cheap shock value and low blows. "The big stupid idiot in a diaper, an ironically funny shirt, and a teddy bear around his waist" Became more and more painful as I reminded myself that I paid for this.
What starts out as an interesting and humorous adventure quickly becomes a confusing and tedious nightmare. The first red flag was the no options, only screen size. The second red flag was seeing only 10 levels. I must admit I was enjoying myself until level 6. This is where the game just ends its charm and decides to go on a terrible back and forth confusing puzzle game. The story is predictable once level 5 comes around, there are only 2 fights in the entire game and the levels are small, very small. While early levels focus on details later levels are almost empty.
It starts out as a black comedy adventure but as stated before it just quits itself half way and just becomes an awful puzzle game. Length wise you are done in less then 4 hours, and it should not even take you that because the clues in the game are so obscure it is impossible to play without a walkthrough. It all comes down to an abysmal ending that leaves more questions then answers. For the $20 price tag I would highly recommend, no, BEG you to wait for a 85% - 90% off sale.
