  • Summary: Inspired by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell's cult horror trilogy -- "Evil Dead," "Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn," and "Army of Darkness," the PC version of the game again requires the player to bring back torn pages from the Necronomicon to rid the world of those pesky roaming monsters.

  1. Only "Evil Dead" diehards need apply. If you're looking for "Resident Evil," buy the original. [July 2001, p.64]
  2. On the whole, Evil Dead isn't horrifically bad—just surprisingly limp-wristed.
  3. Many of "Evil Dead" worshipers will want to try this game; I wouldn't recommend it however, simply because it might make you hate the Evil Dead trilogy for the rest of your life.

The suckage wasn't just saved for the visual and auditory portion of Hail to the King, though...no, no. Gameplay is equally as tedious.

Don't let the other reviews fool you! This game rocks, especially for the fans of the Evil Dead movies. I suspect the reason that some might hate this game is because it's too hard for them. Boo Hoo! A real game that presents a real challenge for a change. If you have been spoiled by the schlock that has come down the pipe in the video game market for the last ten years, this game isn't for you. Its difficulty might damage your fragile self-image. Hail to the King, baby! Expand

I only have one problem with this game: the endless assault of respawning deadites. This game stays true to the trilogy and is a must for any fan. Even though the respawning enemies are anoying, they are part of the Evil Dead universe. You never get much of a break between fights, but neither did Ash in the movie. If you are a fan of the trilogy, or just like survival horror, this is your game. This game gives the SURVIVAL in survival horror all new meaning. Expand
