  • Summary: Welcome to your new summer job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where kids and parents enter for entertainment and food as far as the eye can see. The main attraction is Freddy Fazbear, of course; and his couple offriends. They are animatronic robots, programmed to please the crowds. The robots' behavior has become somewhat unpredictable at night however, and it was much cheaper to hire you as a security guard than to find a repairman. From your small office you must watch the security cameras carefully. You have a very limited amount of electricity that you're allowed to use per night (corporate budget cuts, you know). That means when you run out of power for the night- no more security doors and no more lights! If something isn't right- namely if Freddybear or his friends aren't in their proper places, you must find them on the monitors and protect yourself if needed. Expand

Five Nights at Freddy's is horror done right. No slasher techniques, no gore necessary.

Entertaining, engaging and enveloping; once Five Nights at Freddy’s clasps its paws around you, it will be hard to let go.

A simple design that's devilishly clever at messing with you.

No nightmare can match the sheer terror of looking into the eyes of a plush monster that has come to tear you apart. A new kind of horror is in town. [Issue#245]

Five Nights at Freddy's, even without both the third dimension and high production values in general, is really scary. It is a little horror game which will scare you with both its original idea and its implementation, proving there may be always a new approach in any genre.

Nice concept but the sense of horror goes away really quickly. Action is presented in a repetitive way and the resource management doesn't work as well as it could have. Nonetheless the player will still have a few scares.

Five Nights at Freddy’s presents an interesting concept to the player, and tries a different approach to the genre other than the usual asylum, graveyard and ghost town. Even the gameplay has something to say, but after the first minutes, once understood the mechanism, is hard to find a real interest in continuing playing.

I've play a ton of horror games and most of the time, they resort to cheap jump-scares and having a bad atmosphere. But when I saw this game, I was stunned. Unlike most horror games, you are fixed in a tiny office, looking through cameras to see where the animatronic robots are. What's makes this even more creepy is that the story takes place in a kids pizza parlor where animatronic robots are based on character's from the pizza parlor. This game will scare you and leave you scared for the rest of the night. In short. BUY THIS GAME! Expand

Horror games usually use things like resource management and atmospheric noise to generate an extremely stressful environment for the player, but rarely can a game produce such a profound level of panic as Five Nights at Freddy’s. It masterfully puts the player in a horrific spot of waiting, just waiting for the inevitable jump-scare.
That being said, there is little else to the game

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Now this is how you make a horror game people.
You don't run from MONSTERS OR F**KING ROBOT (children)
You sit in one spot and wait.............F**KING JUMPSCARE
So the basic of this game is to survive instill 6AM
You need watch the cameras and watch out for Animatronic
    That is pretty much it.

Great simplistic horror game. We have seen games like Amnesia scare people with it's constant creepy atmosphere, chase sequences, and horrifying visuals. This game however does its best to scare you in a very minimalistic fashion. barely any animations, movement, basic narrative t and simple mouse point-and-click control.

For a normal novice horror player, this game will feature a very spooky atmosphere and quite a few legit scares. And some management puzzles as well! But I have to say this as a seasoned horror game veteran, this game is not as scary for me. The chilly ambient atmosphere that the game creates is quite good, but the horror itself relies way too heavily on jumpscares, and for me that is just annoying. The power management puzzle is pretty neat though, a nice new spin on the horror genre as surviving the nights is completely up to your use of energy. Also I'm not the one to ask questions about logic in video games, but electricity powered doors which close if you run out of electricity. Really? Couldn't come up with something that makes a bit more sense? Oh well, that's just nitpicking.

On the technical side, the version 1.0 that I played is just a joke. No basic audio settings, can't change resolution, brightness, gamma. Nothing. It was just frustrating in that regard.

In general, the game would be pretty scary for a casual horror novice, but for me personally it wasn't all that scary, and quite annoying at times.

This is not horror game. This is like some child story or some game you give your 2 old children to play. You cant be scared even if you try to. You just cant. Expand
