  • Summary: Set during the Vietnam War, Vietcong is a first person shooter with tactical elements. Vietcong combines thrilling action with strategic thinking. The evolving storyline combined with the game's intense sound system, graphics and animation truly bring powerful jungle combat to life on your PC. Acting as an elite soldier, players of Vietcong command the A-team, part of the U.S. Special Forces, in realistically represented Vietnamese environments. Players will lead as many as six expertly trained soldiers through 20 dramatic missions, and follow a storyline that captures the danger, fear and unpredictability of the war itself. 1. One of its most remarkable accomplishments is the way gunfights play out like gunfights rather than shooting galleries. [July 2003, p.88]
  2. Vietcong is everything Platoon should’ve been: realistic, immersive, tense, reasonably flexible, and thoroughly addictive. How ironic that two Czech developers should be the first to create a truly brilliant Vietnam game.
  3. The game is intense with plenty of surprise attacks and one-shot kills, but it manages to remain fun and entertaining and perhaps even a bit educational. If you have the gear to run it I highly recommend taking this tour of duty.
  4. They've managed to make a consistent game world and suck the player into it. The fact remains, however, that including more mundane and frustrating elements of real world warfare is a double-edged blade, especially when some of the other technical elements of your game are not up to snuff - like the AI, or clunky engine.

Vietnam was hell, and it's translated well in that way, but unfortunately it just doesn't pass muster leaving us with an average game that could have been great.
  6. A flawed but rewarding experience seems to be the average diagnosis for most of the current crop of FPS releases, and Vietcong is no exception.
  7. Repetitive and crude, this is a game that is often let down by the rough edges of a development team that didn't seem to have the time or the money to realise its ambitions. [June 2003, p.102]

Single player has one of the best campaign experience ever. Weapons are unique respectively . the story is rich as good war movie out there, but not overly-dramatic like those ordinal WW2 shooters. Various locations drawn/built in fine detail. Perfect shooting balance between realistic shooter and arcade action. Truly a masterpiece. Collapse

Really good game, not the best, but not the worst. Graphics aren't that good but it's not the graphics that count.

This game is really good, with action packed jungle warfare the fun never ends, however, there are certain problems that has casted a shadow over this game, bad things.... 1) the guys at GOD Games have shipped a whole lot of bugs while releasing vietcong 2) Graphics are overall not got, it is quite outdated 3) some AI concept of players is not that good. good things..... 1) Multiplayer is very fun and awsome to play with 2) alot of sigleplayer missions to keep you challenged 3) good level environment. 4) sound is good, also weapons are great overall this game's not that bad :)) but b4 you buy this game, try Men of valor first another FPS based on the Vietnam war by 2015. Although it has a lot to offer in terms of realism and the jungle atmosphere is quite immersive, the laughably buggy AI (teammates getting stuck in trenches is a common problem) and slow pace of some of the movement will deter a lot of people. This tried hard but was let out of the door too early -- and it's NOT as good as Delta Force: Blackhawk Down, a much more polished game. Expand
