  • Summary: Throughout three explosive PS one titles, Destruction Derby strapped you into powerful cars and encouraged you to dash and smash your way to the chequered flag. At long last, the PS2 offspring rumbles out of the pits and as well as being a highly polished, purring powerhouse of stock-car action, you can take on the world thanks to the online multiplayer option. Race to the finish or smash the opposition to pieces, but whichever you choose you can kiss goodbye to your No Claims Bonus. Fast and furious online or offline auto-madness. Up to 20 player motor-mayhem online. 17 insane courses to blaze through. 20 deadly drivers each with detailed backgrounds and on-going stories. Lobby chat via the USB headset. [SCEE] Expand

  1. It is fun for the same reason that something like Serious Sam is fun to play: the simplicity of it all. Fans of previous games may be a little turned off by the new arcade-like gameplay, though.

The "Rocky III" of video games: There isn't much suspense, the acting's cheesy, and the production values could be better, but you can't help but get sucked in. [June 2004, p.70]
  3. A mindlessly fun game with an addictive quality to the upgrade system, and the mounds of unlockable cars also helps to boost the replay value.
  4. 60
Offers up some fun, mindless action that fizzles out rather quickly. It's an easy game to pick up and dive right into, but for a single player, it's a weekend rental at best.
  5. Now it's here and we can't help to say with steadfast assuredness that it's not worth your effort.
  6. If you've got nothing else better to do, then Destruction Derby Arenas can kill a few hours of your time. Provided you're not expecting too much out of the game, you'll have some fun in a "it's always fun to smash cars" sort of way.
  7. Despite ticking all the correct boxes Arenas lacks any synergy between components, making it the "Turok Evolution" of racing sequels. [Feb 2004, p.123]

The game of my childhood. I turned on my PS2 almost everyday just to play this game. Hell, even my 7th birthday invites had the cover of the game, and my parents were like: "Wtf?". And thats how much i love it. Expand
