  • Summary: [Dowloadable Game] Nucleus is a shooter that tasks the player with ridding a human body of a spreading virus.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 2 out of 10
  2. Negative: 2 out of 10
  1. An interesting thinking man’s shoot ’em up. Too bad the enemies blend to backgrounds a little bit too well on some levels. The timelimits are mostly unnecessary. [Sept 2007]
  2. A curious game that will seem a little uncomfortable to some factions of both the shmup fanboys and casual players. Still, it is a great piece of software that manages to offer plenty of variation through well-designed level objectives, and at a price you can afford with pocket change.
  3. Overly difficult gameplay for an arcade game. A solid title that the majority of people will simply find too hard. Anyone looking for a real challenge will find it more than enough.
  4. Nucleus stands as a poorly executed game in a field where there are so many excellent others that it’s impossible to recommend. [Aug 2007, p.94]

It doesn't look great but the design is really brilliant, each level you play teaches you something and after a while levels that just seemed completely impossible are easy, and brilliant fun to try and get your highscore up. It's definitely the thinking man's shoot'em up. Expand

Much much better than many reviews say, kept me up all night tonight trying to finish the advanced levels. Definitely hope they do an expansion for this one. Expand

How can Geometry Wars be rated above this title? It has the same control system but adds a lot of variety. Great fun at a sweet price.

Maybe is not a great graphic spectacle, but the 2 player cooperative mode is really funny. It's also a deeper game than it looks at the first time, and the different ways to solve each level require a combination of tactic and good reflexes. Expand
