In case you haven't heard: Resident Evil 4 is kind of a big deal. With its quick pacing, intriguing narrative and unbelievable graphics, this is one of Capcom's best games. This $20 PlayStation 3 port improves the visuals, adds leaderboard support and introduces trophies into the mix. Come see why Resident Evil 4 remains the best survival horror game ever made!

For those who have played the game countless times on either the PS2 or the Wii, there's really no point in owning this version unless you're a super fan of the series or this entry in particular. However, if you've never tried the game before or owned systems that didn't get Resident Evil 4 iterations in the past, this is a great time to get the game.

The lazy HD conversion is disappointing. [Dec 2011, p.97]

Α piece of gaming history reaches its sixth release in the same number of years. While it remains a great gaming experience, some old-school mechanics and the poor HD implementation make us realize it's time to let Leon and Ashley get some rest.

Notice the HD in the title. Forget it was ever there, and if you actually buy this game, that's quite easy to do. Regardless of the graphics having little to no improvement (It's hard to tell actually) , this port of Resident Evil 4 is just as grand as the original was back in its lifetime. It's the same enjoyable horror game and arguably, "one of the greatest games of all time." Although that statement is subjective, RE4 has shown the quality to make me agree. Expand
  2. This is one of my favorite games of all time and this HD remix does an admirable job of bringing this classic title to modern consoles. I was a little disappointed that Move controllers were not incorporated since it seems this would have been relatively easy to do with a Wii version already available. The HD graphics certainly won't blow you away, but they are a marked improvement over the original Gamecube and PS2 versions (both of which I have). I got this with the Playstation Plus discount and that makes it a particularly great value. The only reason I've deducted a few points is the graphics aren't quite up to modern standards and the controls feel particularly loose and twitchy. Expand
  3. If you've played RE4 before then you basically know what to expect here. It's a decent port of what was a great game. I say port because that's exactly what it is...it's a version of RE4 emulated to run on current gen hardware...it's not very 'HD' as the title would suggest. That's not really a bad thing though as this was one of the best looking games from last gen, so even with basic hardware smoothing the game looks pretty good in most places. It's nice to see how the game was intended to look when it originally came out. On the down side there is no move support which I was actually disappointed with as I thought that was one of the things the PS3 version was supposed to get. I played the Wii version and actually found for once the motion controls were better than with a standard controller...point & click aiming was a breeze. The fact they didn't include this just makes this feel like even more of a rushed port. Lastly I do find the price is a bit high. $20 asking price for something that has already been released on so many platforms just seems like a huge cash-in attempt. $10 might have been too low but $15 would have been better. 4. not even HD! This is not a good game and its just upscaled. WOO. Another way for capcom to make more money. So not worth it. Do we see the REAL games in need of getting a hd rerelease get one like RE:outbreak,RE2, and RE3? No? Then why does this game with OK graphics allready get one? I dont get it. Expand
