Though there's plenty of blind machine-gun fire in this latest iteration, Twisted Metal operates in close-up, pairing its gleefully senseless violence with some that seems sensible.
  2. The sum effect of all of Metal's play options, depth and unrelenting challenge is a game brimming with replay value - a seemingly endangered species these days. [Apr 2012, p.72]

From a technical standpoint Twisted Metal isn't all that, and you'll be waiting more online than actually playing the game. You'll mostly remember Twisted Metal as a entertaining kart racer. The presentation is quite sinister and the way you dispatch opponents brutal. In short, this is a spring-game that contradicts everything that blossoms, grows and oozes happiness.

Fast, frantic, but most importantly fun. If what you remember about past twisted metal games is the fun you had playing them either alone or with friends, I'm happy to say that remains intact and satisfying as ever. If your new to the series...... Then start your engine! Expand

  2. wtf is with the cars that go airborne every time something strikes them? Cars spinning in place to target, all of the computer opponents coming after you and ignoring each other, and god help me the race sequence with doll face is an absolute disaster. The game was fun at first, but then you realize your playing the same physics game from the ps1 twisted metals. I can't state strongly enough how bad the race sequences are unclear checkpoints, computer screwing you mid jump so that you fall all the way back to last place, weapons hitting you on the other side of solid objects. Really disappointed in the graphics as well. You get in close quarters with a few computer opponents and there are so many explosions you cant even tell where your car is. Online? Couldn't tell ya i haven't been able to stay in a lobby...I connect, game starts, disconnect. Doesn't matter which lobby. I have solid green connection so that isn't the issue. I was able to actually start one online game, but it disconnected shortly after start. This game in my opinion is a step backwards. I remember twisted metal black fondly..this however should have stayed in the over a bit longer. Expand

  3. Sloppy controls and bad physics hamper this half complete game. Where the hell are all the characters that made this game so fun to play? A complete mess. I can't believe they released the game in this condition. Don't waste your money folks. Expand
