Though the somewhat ho-hum resource management and survival mechanics are a little shop-worn at this point, Song in the Smoke: Rekindled nonetheless soars as the best survival adventure on PSVR2, thanks in no small part to its evocative world, endlessly clever procedural design and stunning improvements made possible by Sony's latest lump of VR tech. If you missed Song in the Smoke the first time round, this is your chance to right that mistake definitively.
Satisfying tactile crafting and combat systems,
made all the better by PSVR2. Rekindled is
a prehistoric survival adventure you can fully

Song in the Smoke is an excellent example of how games can effectively evoke strong emotions with just a few words. Cinematic effects and similar elements are not necessary. All that is required is a good idea and a compelling narrative, which is precisely what this game delivers. However, the gameplay itself is the game's downfall. While not inherently terrible, it may not be as enjoyable over time. Despite this, it will undoubtedly find its fans.
The genre brings something new to VR, too, the constant cycle of long-term goals and short-term urgencies making it one of the few games that can keep us playing for hours. [Issue#383, p.116]
Song in the Smoke Rekindled brings one of virtual reality's top survival experiences onto a platform where it can be enjoyed at its best. If you're willing to muscle through some run-of-the-mill resource management, you'll be rewarded with delightfully tense sequences punctuated by superb sound design.
Your enjoyment of Song in the Smoke: Rekindled will entirely depend on your patience but if you have plenty, there's a lot to love here.
