Driver 2 Image
  • Summary: The crime world's fastest getaway driver is back on the streets in Driver 2, the sequel to the action-packed Driver. Like its predecessor, Driver 2 is an adrenalin-fueled, high-speed car chase through the streets of four cities, where you, as Tanner, infiltrate the criminal underworld, using your driving skills as well as your cunning to disrupt their plans. All the true-to-life features of Driver; such as realistic car handling, complete with damage modeling and true, real-world physics reactions on all cars; extensive production, giving the cities an amazing realism, featuring recognizable landmarks; new features such as foot missions, dual player, and the enhanced cut scenes make this game a real adrenalin rush. 1. Nearly as enjoyable as the original. Despite all the frustration, I kept returning for more of the Wheelman's exciting life. Tanner is certainly "da man"!

Without the thrills you got when you started playing the first game, a lot of the impact is lost - so in some ways, this isn't as good as the original.
  3. Without a decent framerate, the control suffers, and without decent control, the game becomes a LOT less fun. As it stands, this game feels more like a beta than a final, and fans of the original should just go play the first one again.

I was a huge fan of the original Driver even though the missions began to get a little montonous, but Driver 2 seems to have bumped up the action in the wrong direction. Minor crashes make your car spin out as though side-swiped by a nuke! The driving game in Chicago or Havana is impossible - hence not as much fun - since a minor crash sends the car spinning while the lead car reaches what seems to be mach 5! It appears the programmers have tried to take the difficulty level up a notch, when what they really did was take the fun down one. Expand
