  1. Despite the split-screen, there's little discernible slowdown and the visual detail remains spot-on. Psygnosis used Sony's Performance Analyzer, which enabled them to squeeze every last drop out of the PlayStation, and the result is virtually no pop-up and the crispest visuals imaginable.

Practice makes perfect, and Wipeout makes you scream. [The control] takes some time, but you'll be able to corner hairpins faster than a debutante on prom night.
  3. 100
Takes the vibe and style of the previous two games and ramps up the speed to even higher levels.
  4. Aurally, WipEout 3 is a masterpiece. In fact, it's almost worth buying just so that you can listen to the music in your CD player.
  5. 91
The bottom line with this game is that it brings more to the table, it's faster and better. Newcomers and Wipeout fans alike are going to be all over it.
  6. All things considered, the engine is superb and it’s surprising the poor Playstation doesn’t start smoking from the vents.
  7. Going about 600 scale miles per hour it is nearly impossible to discern what's going on with your gauges, not to mention the fact that it's really tough to know when you're about to destroy yourself...Only the most jaded of Wipeout players will feel cheated by purchasing this game and even they'll secretly have fun.

Not as big a leap from "Wipeout XL" as XL was from the orignal Wipeout (and I still think that triple pronged rocket from XL is the coolest racing weopon out there), but it's an excellent evolutionary step. The tournaments are incredibly hard, and I still haven't finished the game, and it's like 2 years later. But still, the series (and this 3rd installment) are brilliant! Collapse

The analog control is a first for the series and works exceptionaly well. The graphics really push the PSX to the limit and pop-up is not an issue. Great track design and music round out the long list of features that make Wipeout 3 one of the best racers of all time. Expand

If at all possible, get the Special Edition. The standard tracks and craft from WO3 give you a total of 192 single races to win on Vector, venom and Rapier speeds, and that's not including the tournaments or challenges. The special edition's extra 8 classic tracks from W'O'' and WO2097 double that number, and there are brand new challenges and tournaments on the classic tracks as well. Multiplayer is great - if you can find anyone as good as you to play it with!! It's really, really good. It doesn't feel as fast as 2097 but at least it isn't Fusion! Expand

Wipeout 3 is an excellent racing game. It has a great theme and well-designed tracks. It has addictive game modes, awesome weapons, and unique aspects. One of the only things that stick out like a sore thumb is the controls, which could be smoother, and are slightly frustrating (slightly!) . If you're collecting PSX games, this is a MUST! Expand
