The Outlast Trials is first and foremost an excellent stealth game in which you have to avoid enemies by hiding in the shade, under the bed or inside a wardrobe, being careful not to make any noise. After that it is an extremely brutal survival horror, in which we must carry out heinous acts without becoming victims of crazy psychopaths ready to tear us to pieces in the bloodiest ways. The atmosphere of the prison camps with no way out during the Cold War has been recreated to perfection, and it is easy to identify with the protagonist as he tries to survive, accompanied only by the crazy beating of his heart. Cooperative multiplayer with three other friends completes the offer.
As a cooperative horror experience, The Outlast Trials is recommended even for those with weak hearts. The missions work very well, and the voice chat and messaging features contribute to communication, making the journey into the abyss more enjoyable and less lonely.
I'mgemerally not one to go out of my way to write reviews but here I am. This game is crazy fun and just all around amazing. While it will not be for everyone it does provide a new experience that has already provided countless hours of **** graphics are top notch and the skill trees actually seen useful. My biggest concernis longevity, but if Red Barrel keeps up with weekly activities and newcontent, I will be playing this game for years to come. The one thing is that I wish they allowed us to add our own modifiers to trials, it would bump up the difficulty (main reason for knocking off a point) and it would keep everything interesting.
After an almost seven-year hiatus, The Outlast Trials makes for a bold return for the series, one that takes it in a surprising new direction, but doesn't compromise on what made the previous two titles so compelling for horror fans.
While the strictly defined horror gameplay might not keep one hooked for hours-long sessions, The Outlast Trials’ style and atmosphere is worth several return journeys. It makes very few changes to the series’ usual stealthy scariness, yet the inclusion of three other players makes for a breezy version that’s pretty damn entertaining. Be aware that playing it alone makes everything take four times longer and isn’t particularly fun, but with even just one more player, some torture porny fun can be had...Plus penises.
The Outlast Trials is good because Outlast was good. This is a creepy horror experience with all the dashing about and horrific mutants I loved about the first one, and I’m going to find myself coming back to it more often than I care to admit. It feels like The Outlast Trials is riding the coattails of the series, using the same tricks and scares instead of effectively innovating on the formula. I had a good time, but I leave it unconvinced Red Barrels even knows what made the first game such a sleeper hit.
The Outlast Trials is an example of a beloved series trying something new, and for the most part it works. The trials themselves are enjoyable, with huge maps to explore, memorable psychos to avoid and enough spooks and jumpscares to keep you entertained for a long time. The game is made, and works best, with multiple players in mind, and while that does take away from the overall horror, what replaces it is a barrel full of laughs as you watch your friend get ripped out of a locker and smacked with a big stick, and that’s good enough for me.
It may not be the next single player terror fans of its predecessors are looking for, but The Outlast Trials successfully translates the series' formula for a co-op setting. Hiding from gory psychopaths and utilising night vision is still the name of the game — now you simply do it alongside up to three friends online. Though silly enemy AI and some repetitive visual assets drag the experience down, The Outlast Trials is an example of a former single player game turned online title done right.
A great horror game no doaubt it is from the best horror games I have played it is polished has a lot of customisation, beautiful skins and the monsters are amazing I like the vibe of this game .
another great outlast plus with online so you can always laugh at the chaos, sometimes it might be too much but I'm okay with that. and then you can also decorate your room
The Outlast Trials fails to deliver what the original games did, a horrifying atmosphere and heart racing jumpscares. The majority of your time in The Outlast Trials is spent running, running and running.
Unfortunately, the functionality of this game seems to be compromised. Communication with friends appears to be hindered by the voice chat not transmitting through the controller, and using a headset seems to exacerbate the issue. Additionally, the hitbox in the game seems overly generous, allowing enemies to hit the player from considerable distances. The utility of night vision is questionable given the limited battery life and the minimal impact of finding additional batteries. The regrettable aspect is that this game was not purchased by the user, resulting in their friend wasting money on a product that appears to be unsatisfactory.
SummaryRed Barrels invites you to experience mind-numbing terror, this time with friends. Whether you go through the trials alone or in teams, if you survive long enough and complete the therapy, Murkoff will happily let you leave… but will you be the same?
