  • Summary: Blur is a new style of powered-up racing. The game drops players into heart-pumping racing action with 20 cars on a track all targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint and collect intense power-ups, including the ability to blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy, boost their speed, and more. Gamers can use offensive and defensive attacks as they battle for the lead and careen through real-world track locations ranging from L.A. and San Francisco to the streets of Hackney, UK and the treacherous roads of Barcelona, Spain. Beyond the action-packed racing filled with fast curves, sneaky alternate routes, hair-raising jumps and fully realized damage models that provide for spectacular crashes, Blur’s narrative is presented through Bizarre’s new community-based interface, reaching far beyond the game itself. This unique story-driving social network evolves dynamically as players compete in different races, make new friends, rivals and fans, and connect with other racers both in-game and in real life. Looking beyond Blur's single player story, gamers can engage in competitive and team-based multiplayer races with up to 20 players online, or on a single console via 4-player split-screen. Bizarre has also introduced Blur’s original social gaming experience - Custom Groups, where anyone can create unique multiplayer modes based on their favorite ways to play the game. These new modes are immediately shared through Blur’s social network, expanding the game in ways that are only limited by the gaming community’s creativity. [Activision] Expand

  1. Blur's mix of strategy-based power-ups, load-out menus, and largely varied challenges really make this game a must for all automotive fans. In a genre this oversaturated, it is good to know that there is still some innovation left.
  2. A rapid, beserk, kartload of fun. [Aug 2010, p.88]
  3. When races go well, it's white knuckle action from beginning to end. Sadly, issues often make it so "going well" isn't always in the cards, and anyone ever upset by a Blue Shell in Mario Kart will spent a lot of time huffing and puffing during Blur races.

  1. This game is amazing, have much interesting elements, and is fresh, finally a new IP, that is funny and interesting. I think that Blur is one of the most better games of the genre. Expand
  2. Blur is definitely one of the most fun racing games I have ever played. Its like a cross between Mario kart and need for speed underground. The career mode isn't very gripping, its when you start playing multiplayer that the fun really starts.20 player online is very cahotic. and unless you manage to pull away from the pack early on you probably wont stay in first place for long.It can be very frustrating at times especially when you are constantly bombarded with weapons. But despite its flaws I would recommend Blur to anyone remotely interested in racers. 3. Blur is one of those games that you can't believe no is talking about. Blur is an arcade racing game made my the same team who made Project Gotham Racing. It's essentially Mario Kart for hardcore racing fans. The game features numerous power ups that help you during races. The fact that this game is incredibly cheap makes you want to go out and buy this game. it's a simple but fun arcade racing game. BUY IT!!! Expand
  4. Blur is a fun game, which unfortunately has not gained the attention it probably deserves. There is plenty of race tracks, game modes for multiplayer and there's more to each race than just coming 1st; you can gain fans by completing challenges throughout the race, such as driving through golden gates in order and completing fan demands, such as getting a clean boost. It appears to be very balanced, unlike Mario Kart, from which it draws inevitable comparisons with the items you can collect, the items are not randomised, so if you're low in the ranks, getting a boost or shunt is far better than getting a mine. I've played split-screen and the races are usually very tight, even with easy computer opponents. There's plenty to do, alone or online, and there's a good range of real cars with different handling. The graphics are not stunning, but the speed and effects on each course make up for this. Overall, Blur is a solid, fun racer and I can definitely recommend it. 3/5. Expand
