The game drops players into heart-pumping racing action with 20 cars on a track all targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint and collect intense power-ups, including the ability to blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy, boost their speed, and more. Gamers can use offensive and defensive attacks as they battle for the lead and careen through real-world track locations ranging from L.A. and San Francisco to the streets of Hackney, UK and the treacherous roads of Barcelona, Spain. Beyond the action-packed racing filled with fast curves, sneaky alternate routes, hair-raising jumps and fully realized damage models that provide for spectacular crashes, Blur’s narrative is presented through Bizarre’s new community-based interface, reaching far beyond the game itself. This unique story-driving social network evolves dynamically as players compete in different races, make new friends, rivals and fans, and connect with other racers both in-game and in real life. Looking beyond Blur's single player story, gamers can engage in competitive and team-based multiplayer races with up to 20 players online, or on a single console via 4-player split-screen. Bizarre has also introduced Blur’s original social gaming experience - Custom Groups, where anyone can create unique multiplayer modes based on their favorite ways to play the game. These new modes are immediately shared through Blur’s social network, expanding the game in ways that are only limited by the gaming community’s creativity. [Activision] Expand

  1. Blur's mix of strategy-based power-ups, load-out menus, and largely varied challenges really make this game a must for all automotive fans. In a genre this oversaturated, it is good to know that there is still some innovation left.

Blur's an amazing Frankenstein of a game, sewing together the best bits of the Project Gotham series with the Mario Kart formula, the result a game that's completely unique.
  3. A deep and satisfying racing game that's accessible to all - but the sequel will have a clearer vision.
  4. Blur is an attractive, intense, fast and thrilling game. It's built over a solid structure, and has a more than satisfying depth.
  5. Bizarre has produced an excellent mix of Mario Kart, Wipeout and Project Gotham Racing. Not very original, but incredibly fun.
  6. On the whole however, it's hard to resist the basic level of fun that Blur's overall design attributes bring about.

Everyone loves Mario Kart unless you find it too childish, well Blur is the answer to that. It takes the same gameplay as Mario Kart and implements it into real life and real cars. The online mayhem is spectacular and will last you for a long time to come. The single player is sparse yet fun to play regardless. The graphics are some of the best this generation, slick and shiny. Blur wont get old anytime soon garunteed. Expand

Any game that has you saying 'just one more race' and then realising that daylight is coming out of the curtains after a long night playingAny game that has you saying 'just one more race' and then realising that daylight is coming out of the curtains after a long night playing has to be given a good score. Online is highly addictive, and while it may be a small population, every player is friendly and competitive in all the right amounts. Dive in to a game that deserved better, but even without the tragic history aspect its a fast paced, action packed racer that has little for simulation fans, but anyone after pure fun will find it here. Well worth a purchase. Expand

The power-ups are nicely balanced. Being able to keep 3 power-ups and use them forwards/backwards with often different characteristics ensures that you always have to choose wisely. Doing this whilst in the middle of a pack and following the track makes for an exhiliarating experience. No race is the same, and almost every race has great moments, even if you end up last. Splitscreen is great for local play too, but the (important) rearview mirror is absent then.
Forget about Revolt or Mario Kart, this is the real thing!

Blur is a fun game, which unfortunately has not gained the attention it probably deserves. There is plenty of race tracks, game modes forBlur is a fun game, which unfortunately has not gained the attention it probably deserves. There is plenty of race tracks, game modes for multiplayer and there's more to each race than just coming 1st; you can gain fans by completing challenges throughout the race, such as driving through golden gates in order and completing fan demands, such as getting a clean boost. It appears to be very balanced, unlike Mario Kart, from which it draws inevitable comparisons with the items you can collect, the items are not randomised, so if you're low in the ranks, getting a boost or shunt is far better than getting a mine. I've played split-screen and the races are usually very tight, even with easy computer opponents. There's plenty to do, alone or online, and there's a good range of real cars with different handling. The graphics are not stunning, but the speed and effects on each course make up for this. Overall, Blur is a solid, fun racer and I can definitely recommend it. 3/5. Expand
