  • Summary: Jigsaw has killed your partner and destroyed your life. Now he has trapped you in an abandoned insane asylum that he alone controls. If you can defeat his brutal traps and survive, you may just discover the truth behind what drives this twisted serial killer. SAW is a third-person perspective, survival horror game based on the SAW film franchise. The game features many of the deadly mechanical traps seen in the film, as well as terrifying new ones. Players pit their wits against Jigsaw as they navigate his world in an attempt to evade and escape his gruesome traps, while also struggling against his minions in brutal combat by using weapons found within the environment. SAW, the video game, is based on a treatment from Zombie Studios and the creators of the SAW franchise, Leigh Whannell and James Wan. The timeline for the game takes place between the movies: SAW and SAW II, giving the game its own story, yet fitting within the narratives of the movies. The story centers on Detective David Tapp who awakens in a decrepit, abandoned asylum. He has been captured by his longtime nemesis, Jigsaw. Obsessed with catching this serial killer, Tapp’s mission has consumed him and ruined his family, resulting in divorce, mental imbalance, and abandonment. Worse yet, this frantic hunt destroyed Tapp’s career while he watched his long-time friend and partner get killed by one of Jigsaw’s traps. Now Jigsaw has the upper hand and has captured the detective. Tapp must play a deadly game - the likes of which he has been investigating for years - to escape, and in order to do so he must survive the lethal traps and puzzles that Jigsaw has put in place for him and others. But each victim has a dark connection to Tapp. Will Tapp save them? Can he survive his obsession to find the Jigsaw killer? [Konami] Expand

  1. Thrilling, chilling, with a whole lot of blood spilling. A deeply intense and enjoyable single player game, marred slightly by a lack of multiplayer, clunky combat, and some repetitive gameplay.
  2. I actually really enjoyed this game, but I can't say it really wowed me though. It was short, repetitive and overall didn't add anything new to the genre, but somehow just like its movie counterpart, it had charm and didn't aim to do anything but provide enjoyment; something it succeeded in very well.
  3. While the spirit of the series is here, the execution simply needs to be refined from the ground up; hopefully soon we will have another SAW game that is actually in Jigsaw’s caliber.
  4. In the end this game feels less like a thrilling adventure and more like an eight to ten hour endurance test.

A real surprise, I was pulling for this game to do great things. The game has taken the best elements from the classic survival horror games and combined it ingeniously with the Saw franchise. Although, the combat does fall short of perfect, but that doesn't ruin the game at all. Expand
  2. I am a huge fan of the series and to be honest I wasnt expecting much from the game but I was rather suprised that it turned out to be as good as it was. It did well to tie into the films, Good voice acting and sounds, solid graphics as well. It was also challenging to solve all the puzzles as well. The only bad thing is the terrible combat system, Besides that it was a good game. Expand

For a movie based game its ok. The atmosphere and setting feel like SAW. The voice acting is average, nobody is great, couple are poor. Graphics are decent, they wont make your head explode ( see what i did there ) but is ok. The problem is that while i admit i get a bit anxious at times, this isnt scary. You fight 1 MAYBE 2 guys at a time tops. And with a broken fighting system thats fine. Weapons are useless due to very slow wind up times which are more noticeble than the slight damage increase. Some of the guys running around trying to kill you have traps on their heads (Reverse bear traps, Venus Fly Traps, and shotgun collars ) that provide some decent gore, but not anything extream. The traps are are common enough to keep you going, but not common enough that theyre around every corner. Which is good, because pretty much all of them are only interesting the first couple times, the variety pretty much consists of moving your hand around something filled with something that would hurt you looking for a key, lining up some gears, and 2 other puzzles, Though honestly pretty much all of them have been done a lot. In summary, a good attempt, but the rare spooks you might get and the decent amount of gore you see are massively outweighed by the lack of interesting puzzles, a combat system that is actually terrible, massive repitition. Was ok at the start, but as the game goes on the only thing that keeps me going is i hope the ending is decent. Rent if you really want to. DO NOT BUY!!! Expand
  4. Old, outdated, boring and lifeless - Saw its just about as boring as the movies were. Boasting a lackluster combat system and messy controls players will soon enough find themselves in a latch of boredom and rage. Not only that, but the games effort of character development fails to impress too, as charcters are introduced and killed off in minutes. The 6-8 hour video game just about sums up everything bad about today's gaming. Brutal, but True... 3/10 Expand
