  1. Delivers more onscreen pyrotechnics than a Kiss concert.
  2. A much better game than the original. The single player, while still weak compared to multiplayer, is longer and more engrossing.
  3. 90
Not only is the pacing much more deliberate -- and therefore very intense -- but the awesome selection of different mecha and other war machines give this game a feel all its own.
  4. 80
While there's occasional pop-up and clipping, those glitches are trumped by smooth animation and incredible explosions. When an enemy Mech is trashed, the bright blast lights up the screen and ripples the surrounding terrain in the most satisfyingly way.
  5. The beautiful graphics and destructible environments (both upgraded from the last game) add to the ambience, but the single-player game disappoints with brevity (6-7 hours to beat) and a throw-away story that never sets the mood properly with its weak dialogue and characters. [Feb 2005, p.109]
  6. A game that probably could have used a bit more focus and polish but despite that still does its job well. The single-player campaign is somewhat interesting and gripping, and players looking for the ferocity of multiplayer won't be disappointed.
  7. There are flashes, bangs, and crashes, but after more than an hour of playing it, the only thing you're really want is to lie down about a few rounds of Majong...If called upon to describe MA2 in a single word, that word would be relentless. This game is furious, sure, but it definitely isn't fast.

Hands down THE best game in the entire battletech series. its only major flaw is the lack of weapon customization for mechs, and the single player is a little lacking. but, Xbox Live, sweet graphics, big explosions, and a furious pace more than compensate for that. Collapse

The graphics have been beefed up, and the variety of new vehicles offers a much-needed dynamic. The campaign is painfully short, but the outstanding multiplayer is worth picking this one up. Expand

Very poor single player campaign, getting out of your mech is very gimmicky you need a battle armor to steal other mechs and when you have the mech you stole , you need the battle armor again if you want to steal another mech. the onfoot mission while trying to destroy a generator sneaking and hiding on buildings to sneak by is unsatisfying, they should have a sneaking mission similar to splinter cell or mgs men vs. men instead of men vs mech or tanks you have no chance of survival that way. putting the boosters on L3 was a stupid idea, how the hell you want the player to properly control the battle armor if left analog stick is for moving the mech while L3 button is for boost is very difficult you cant learn it, no matter hard you try its not workable. Very promising Preview but not actually good when you play it. its definitely one of those games that was rushed out on the market before extensive play testing. Expand
