Jogs along fairly tediously on the rescue trail, with the star being his laconic self, plus conventional spurts of violence, likewise the saddle humor.
Big Jake is an extremely slick and commercial John Wayne starrer, this time as a long-gone husband out to rescue a grandson from kidnapper Richard Boone.
O'Hara looks like she's just doing Wayne a favor, and Pat Wayne and singer Vinton just don't have much screen presence. These weaknesses plus a mediocre script add up to a very weak Wayne outing.
A late Wayne Western, depending heavily on recycling better (and no better) earlier pictures.
