What makes it so compelling to watch is the choice of characters and the examination of what, beyond sporting glory, they are actually fighting for.
Both a stirring sports doc and a rich nonfiction drama, populated by characters who could have stepped out of a Damon Runyon story.
Showtime slick and boxing picture predictable, Cradle of Champions is about the New York epicenter of Golden Gloves boxing.
It’s a sentimental film about New York and the way it sees itself: tough, big-hearted, assimilated and patriotic.
