Viewers willing to accept the contrived plot at face value will find much to like.
Funahashi's visual mood-making is an object lesson in how to create a sense of intimate anomie with next to nothing.
Intriguing almost in spite of itself.
This beautifully shot, 70-minute black-and-white film remains deliberately inconclusive.
Has a strained, unconvincing screenplay whose failure to connect the dots of its story suggests that it might have been largely improvised.
