A delightfully schlocky horror comedy about a race of vicious, bloodthirsty invading aliens who look like circus clowns - but with very sharp teeth. [15 Aug 2013, p.C01]
Outside of viewing the film as a child or with a group of pals on drunken Saturday night, watching a bunch of loosely stringed sequences of Killer Klowns attacking townsfolk only gets you so far. It's a fun picture. But nothing more.
This movie is the definition of "the girls who get it, get it And the girls that don't, don't." It's camp, it's fashion, it's all I've ever needed in a movie.
To quote Oprah: "she is the mother, I never had. The sister I always wanted, and the friend we all deserve. I don't know a better person."
In KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE a potentially interesting genre-warping concept is turned into a merely dull and repetitive one by the Chiodo brothers, who created CRITTERS.
Watched Killer Klowns from Outer Space for the first time in over a decade and it's just as campy, stupid, funny, and visually amazing for the time due to it's special effects as I remembered. The special effects for the time are exceptional; the clowns are so well designed, each one creepy and cool and each in their own unique way, and they look realistic and their movement is pretty realistic. The clown ship sets, the clown props, the clown vehicles, and all the clown set pieces are spectacular and cool for the time. The writing is really funny, love the morbid humor the clowns have, even if at times the human dialogue is a bit cheesy. John Vernon and Grant Cramer give good performances. The music especially the song Killer Klowns is excellent. After watching this again after so many years I fully remember why it was my favorite when I was younger, it's still just as amazingly absurd as I remembered, an A+ movie for me that is definitely one of my all-time favorite movies again.
This movie is hella good . I personnaly remember watching it when i was young and not liking it but later on I found a new profound respect for this movie. Also I love the shadow scene
This movie is just good fun it's a silly concept and it knows it and embraces the silly campy nature in all aspects of the movie and because of that I would consider this one of the greatest movies from the 80s
I can appreciate some parts of the movie but it's definitely the kind of film that is so bad it's good. There's a lot more fun to be had when watching with a friend and just ripping on it rather than just watching it by yourself.
