This ensemble comedic drama maintains a light touch while surveying the challenges of accepting adult responsibilities.
Park coats the big heart he has for these people with warm LA lens flares, and finds energy from sharp cuts and wall-to-wall music. It’s the performances that prove to be spotty, with flat line-readings all around and displays of emotions that struggle to reach from the script to the audience.
The film doesn’t have the focus, pacing or plotting of the best of such bromance tales.
The film persistently misses the mark as a raunchy comedy amid all the side commentaries and Park's earnest tone. Yet it's equally clumsy at making sense of its portrayals of the indignities that Asian Americans routinely endure.
The jokes in Ktown Cowboys land with a thud.
