Look, I was skeptical of a new Road House movie. This new version certainly isn’t trying to replace the first. But it’s a worthy edition to the Road House family and captures the spirit of what a movie like this should be.
The beefcake Swayze role, Dalton, is taken over by an intense Jake Gyllenhaal in this entertaining and, for better or worse, less mockable update of the cult classic.

Road House was a fun action movie with great action, acting and a solid story. The fight scenes were top notch and most scenes in the Road House are accompanied by a performance by various bands. Each one kills it. Just a fun time all around.

The main attraction, so to speak, of “Road House” is ne’er-do-wells getting their comeuppance, to put it as gently as possible. The amount and degree of fighting defy most rules of physics, respiration and orthopedics. But it is a fantasy, mostly, which is a blessing.
No one is going to mistake “Road House” for a masterpiece, but it succeeds far better at being what the original film set out to be.
Once you squint and look past the Gyllenhaal of it all, there's not much on offer here. The leading man tears through a thin sketch of a story, populated by characters, performances, and even action that feel like placeholders.
Like the first Road House, it's a guilty pleasure, but it's not as pleasurable as it should be.
Jake Gyllenhaal is the sole component that separates Road House from the sort of movie that stars stunt legend Scott Adkins and premieres on VOD.
Not very related to the original Road House with Patric Swayze (RIP). But the basic premise is the same. Just brings it up to date with throwing in UFC contenders that did not exist in 1989.
Jake Gyllenhall carries this movie on his own shoulder sadly. Much of the the co-actors around him deliver flat performances and is nothing to write home about.
Connor McGregor should never be allowed in front of a camera. His character was waaaay over the top acted. Connor walks around stuffed of Testosterone and PCP with a prance and a stare aimed to walk straight trough people (which he does though) with a always presenting grin on his face. He seems to have a good time though.
The story is marginally thin, but if you accept this movie as a nice Sunday romp with a bucket of Popcorn, its safe to disengage all anchors to sense and sensibility and logic and just tag along for a ride.
The setting is lovely though. Fight scenes brutal enough. But a movie you should not look for deeper meaning of.

Road House is a decent B movie. Does it do anything groundbreaking? No. But it’s definitely a good at home popcorn movie. Action sequences and the cinematography are the best parts of the film. 30 minutes of the love story could’ve been cut for time, as there is some drag in the middle of the film.

Add a few stars to my rating if you like fight scenes that go one and on and on. There was absolutely no chemistry between Jake and Daniela. Jessica Williams was very good, and Jake does comedy pretty well. But who could possibly care about or be interested in any of the characters? And the thing that annoyed me most was the fact that the writers who put together this mediocre script try to impress us with esoteric references to all-time great movies like "The Third Man" by having a character tell Jake/Dalton that a cheap western book is by "Martin Holly", an obvious reference to Holly Martins, the writer of paperback westerns in that movie.

The weird: multiple male asses shoved in your face including a naked man bending over and the main character being sexually harassed in his own home by a fat woman (female gaze much), but not a single boob or even a female ass in thong. I thought this was a movie for (straight) guys it seemed a little ****
DEI: every single likable person that could be cast as diverse was (except all the unlikable bad guys obviously)
