Well-meaning but frustratingly unfocused documentary.
The film only gains its footing in the final half hour, when Griffin and Solvang interview a healer who regularly performs female circumcisions and, finally, two people who actually have AIDS.
A self-indulgent work.
Could serve as a textbook example of what to avoid in nonfiction filmmaking.
Griffin and Solvang's obliviousness, and the filmmakers' habit of mugging condescendingly while conducting interviews doesn't help either.
