Francis Ford Coppola

Biography: Francis Ford Coppola was born on April 7, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. However, he grew up in a suburb in New York City. His father Carmine Coppola was a famous musician and composer while his mother was an actress. He got a degree in drama from Hofstra University. His first feature film was Dementia 13 which he directed in 1963. He is probably most famous for his 1972 film The Godfather, which became one of the highest-grossing film in history. That year he won two Oscars for The Godfather, one for screenplay and one for Best Picture. He also got a nomination for Best Director. He went on to write and direct many other films including The Godfather II which won him Oscars for Best Director, Writer, and Producer.
He is the brother of Talia Shire and uncle of actor Nicolas Cage.
