While 4400 may need to smooth down some of its more noticeable tone hiccups, it has set up a very interesting mystery with undertones of issues that are very relevant to 2021.
The pilot for 4400 doesn’t scream for your attention, it asks politely. But even though the reboot stumbles out the gate, its clever premise and subtle hints of its true potential will likely be enough to keep fans tuned in. At least for now.
It's sometimes soggy and silly, sometimes sharply insightful; sometimes a politically correct sledgehammer, sometimes waspishly funny. One thing that seems certain is that it's far more ideologically attuned than its predecessor. The original version certainly had a political bent, but only in a broad, traditionally sci-fi way: ruthless totalitarians bad, smiley-faced anti-totalitarians good. The new show is far more specifically tethered to the woke politics of 2021.
The storytelling is all about keeping them in the same room or so, sitting and talking to each other. It’s a dull visual approach, and brings out the corniness of the premise that needs to be distanced from for this to work.
This show is really a mess.
The original was 100 times better then this one.
The story has no sense, and please can someone explain people remakes are just **** ? why make everything a remake ? the Showrunners have no ideas ? i watched the first episode just to be sure but after this i immediately moved on another show.
Well dont waste your time this show is a huge and smelly turd .
Story gets completely lost in the constant virtue signalling. Moves incredibly slow and each episode barely makes any ground on the overall plot. I'm all for inclusion but it is a hard watch because of how it drags its feet.
I was hoping that there would be something interesting, at least like the original series. but I didn't even finish watching the first episode and turned it off.
stupid production, acting at the level of acting courses,
and the whole concept as an idol of tolerance just despised itself and turned into pure racism that shines from every frame.
I regretted spending 20 minutes of my life, and began to revisit the original series.
Well Metacritic wants to hide my review I have to rewrite it.
This show is the most racist thing I have seen in my life. I was excited for this reboot because of how poorly the original 4400 ended. I went into this production basically blind. I was absolutely stunned immediately at how cartoonish the racism in this show is. You cannot divorce this show from its agenda. There is no subtlety of it either. The pilot was basically 40 minutes of trying to rub your nose in how evil w hite people are.
When the world is crying for tolerance I fail to understand how such a racist show can exist in 2021.
Its unfortunate too because the production values were otherwise adequate and the actors put in good performances. They just cant help what has been written is so obscenely inappropriate.
Now the real question is Metacritic going to let me see my own review or hide it from me.
I just watched the first episode. What the f...k i just watched? this show is racist against white people, none of the main characters are white and is all about racial Justice narrative instead of focusing on the mistery. This is trash.
