Was worried if this show could capture the spirit of the movies. For the most part, it does, but also has its own unique energy. About the only characters that don’t work for me are the bosses. The original boss is too weak and the new boss plays too arrogant and stiff.
Riggs continues to get past his wife’s murder, but the real question is: was he bat-crap-crazy before his wife died? For this show to continue, the answer has to be an absolute “you betcha”. A sane and professional Riggs is no longer fun to watch.
As for Roger, this character is being played too Felix Unger and too stupid dad/husband of the year. Did not get this vibe from the movie character of Roger and it is not consistent with the “good cop” reputation he supposedly has.
Again, crazy Riggs is fun to watch. Just be careful not to ruin things with stereotypical characters and boring subplots.
Addendum:
Actor playing the lead role has been canned and many of the actors approached to take the role have all passed. Bad behavior by actors is an all too common problem, but this show will crash and burn if the producers don’t find the right replacement. Also hear some change is coming for “Roger”. Again, they’d be careful in this reboot.
Season 2 is good. Glad to see the actors getting into their characters. I hope the writing stays good and the stories interesting. I still want them to give Riggs new boots. Hate those broken down boots.
