Rennervations is a touch frantic and a little unhinged, but that just seems to be a reflection of its star’s personality. We love seeing the conversions and the organizations that will get these really fun new vehicles.
Renner brings in celebrity friends like Vanessa Hudgens and Anthony Mackie to amp up the glitz, but the series’ spotlight feels better used on craftspeople whose talents aren’t valorized nearly as often. ... Renner’s recovery lends the inspirational tone of “Rennervations” extra heft.
It’s mildly interesting to watch the team of fabricators problem-solve their way through Renner’s wildly ambitious ideas, and sweet to see their easy rapport as they joke among themselves or help each other out. ... But much more of Rennervations is simply boring.
