Sean makes plans to spend the evening and have dinner with his daughter Ellie to celebrate her one week anniversary of her living with him. However, Sean's boss tells everyone they have to work evenings.

Sean's mother Lorna tries to constantly take care of Sean and Ellie. Sean's friend Liz also helps the father and daughter, which leads to a competition as to who does a better job.

Lorna sets up a blind date for Sean. Ellie goes to a party.

Lorna has a difficult time learning how to use a smart-cell phone. At work, Max's father Lee visits, which causes more problems for Sean and the other employees. Lee is interested in Lorna, so Sean sets them up on a date

Sean reluctantly agrees to enter a ballroom dance competition with his mother, and then tries to find a way to get out of it. He decides to fake an injury which would prevent him fro dancing.

Sean is having to work with Roger, the man who slept with his wife; meanwhile, Lorna is getting in shape to sing at her reunion.

Sean begins dating Max's fencing instructor, and struggles to keep up with him. Little does Sean know that the guy he is dating has a secret.
