Sweet, lyrical and a little cracked, it's worth seeking out.
The episodes don't really go anywhere, but the star-writer-producer has a genial Everyman presence and surrounds himself with a rich array of characters.
The single-camera Somebodies concept is gentle and easygoing and character-driven, which potentially makes it a pleasant, earnest little outpost, if not necessarily anything that's going to push primetime in bold new directions.
It's a single-camera comedy that comes close, at times, to feeling like a live-action cartoon. It's not as hilariously cutting as "Chappelle's Show" used to be. But the tone is entertaining, and the format fits.
The show, though, never quite jells.
The phrase "all over the place" barely begins to cover it.
