Based on the six episodes Cinemax sent out for review in advance of Friday night’s premiere, it’s in many ways the Strike Back fans knew and loved the first time out. ... At the same time, the whole thing feels a bit thinner and more formulaic than the previous incarnation. ... It so far feels only as good as it needs to be, which is a step down from what the prior incarnation showed it could do.
The new series lacks some of the camaraderie (and humor) of the previous series with Scott and Stonebridge; I miss that. The women are more dominant and aggressive than their male counterparts. The series as a whole is still appealing.
While lacking a creative story line and charismatic characters, Strike Back serves an adequate reboot to entertain some fans in terms of well-done action sequences and overall pacing. Many would agree that bringing Stapleton and Winchester back could potentially boost the show's original popularity.
The reboot of Strike Back is total rubbish.
The characters are uninteresting and there is zero chemistry between any of them.
The episodes are by the numbers and really just boring. It feels like the budget version of the original series. Bring back Stonebridge and Scott, your series needs you.
