By far one of the best shows on youtube, James Rolfe has created a character called the Angry Video Game Nerd (known as the Angry Nintendo Nerd when he began, bu started reviewing other consoles as well), who does nothing but play Sh***y games he hates, and looks back angrily and bitterly at the games he hated from his childhood. spanning over 100 episodes and an in the works movie, the show is well written, acted, and produced, all by james himself (with the help with some co-acting and co-writing friends). The AVGN reviews games, game consoles, sometimes figurines, media, and movies, (and also has a spin off show called Board James) but mostly sticks to games, mainly the Nes. The show, while using mostly toilet humor, and alot of swearing, are crafted well and represent the character well. It was a landmark review show, that spawned thousands of youtube copies and influenced an entire generation of gamers. AVGN has inspired a majority of reviewers, some that take the formula and expand on it, others that litteraly copy and paste the writing and style of the show. Overall, over 900,000 subscribers and millions upon millions of video views later, AVGN is still regarded as one of the best shows on youtube, and is a personal favorite of mine.
