It's not a bit hokey, as are many reality show competitions. Unlike "ANTM," the coaches don't judge. Instead, they leave that to industry experts who are authentic: smart, tough and unemotional.
Campbell, Kurkova and Rocha--all insanely competitive with each other--stage the shoot with the models’ input, and it’s flat-out fun to watch legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier in action.
The Face borrows plenty of concepts from other modeling and competition shows, but it manages to throw enough fashion and dramatic interest at viewers to be engaging.
Rocha, combined with the new format of The Face, creates a real threat to the Tyra empire.... [But] The Face, with a focus on posing, strutting and styling in its first few weeks, has room to fall.
Not quite as riveting as some of Tyra Banks' Top Model panels, but the prospect of Naomi getting in her rivals' faces to save her girls should entice the Bad Girls audience to give it a look.
