I was a Two and a Half Men fan early on in the series existence. I watched the first season with Aston Kutcher playing Walden because there was so much controversy surrounding the show but really the show hasn't been very good since Charlie Sheen's firing in 2011. I decided that I wasted enough of my life watching Two and a Half Men when it was good that I might as well watch the final season and see how they close the book. In the 12th season Two and a Half Men returns to the format that made it popular but it's just not funny anymore. Jon Cryer's character Alan is just not funny anymore. It seems like we just know him too well now and we know what he is going to say before he says it. Aston Kutcher could have some funny episodes but for the most part he's supposed to be the serious one and isn't always relied on to be funny. Several new actors were brought in for the 12th season two of the most notable being Edan Alexander and Maggie Lawson. This season may even be overrated by me but I think I rated it a little high because its a show I've been familiar with for so long and it kind of hurt to be showing so much hate for it, but too be honest the show has just become a parody of its former self. The series also has the worst finale I've ever watched that is sure to piss off long time fans even if they enjoy the Kutcher era. There is no proper closure to the characters and all the character that they introduce at the start of the season wind up be insignificant in the end. If you are a fan on the series I suggest you skip this final season because it will only result in disappointment. Two and a Half Men just stuck around too long.
Series 11 was a major disappointment in every way, and as series 12 is the final series, this one must be a winner right? Well you'd think, but while this series is slightly better than series 11, it doesn't compare to the first 8 series. The main focus in this series is the **** marriage sub-plot between Alan and Walden, it's pulled off extremely poorly, it doesn't go anywhere and it's completely dropped near the end of the series, not to mention it had me and a lot of people I know going, What?! The humour hasn't improved much, it's still bland and unoriginal, and I had completely lost interest in the show by this point anyway, and this series highlights the reason why very well. But the main focus here is the Finale, I decided to watch it what with the rumours of Charlie Sheen making a reappearance, and I wanted to see how they were to send off a series that had lost it's way 4 seasons ago, let's cut to the chase, the finale was a major disappointment. There was one thing I liked about it though, and that was the meta-humour, but that's it, Charlie Sheen did not make a reappearance here, and even though that really annoys me, the character was handled poorly in this episode off-screen, how do you do that? Charlie supposedly threatening to kill Alan and Walden, why? Charlie sends big checks to all his previous girlfriends in some very unsatisfying cameos, why? Jake is now rich and married with kids, what? It feels very slapdash and rushed, and the ending. Uuuhhhhh! So overall, I'm disappointed, the final series was meant to be a homage to both eras of the show, the Kutcher era, and the Sheen era, but nothing, including the finale, even slightly looks back on the first 8 years, which in my opinion, is a major shame.
At this point, I just want this series to end.
I'm watching it only because I've watched it for 11 years of my life. I have this closure thing sometimes (though not for USA's Suits, which has jumped the shark).
Season 12 of TaaHM is poor to fair, at best. The Alan character is tedious and flat. The plot is contrived.
I'm looking forward to the one hour finale only to see this train wreck come to an end.
In the past I've said that Mr Sheen left the show because the writers ran out of ideas. I am only more firm in that belief.
This show ran out of steam a loooong time ago.
the characters we loved (Jake, Allen, Bertha and Rose) have mostly been ruined completely. Walden is as bad as usual but this show has the audacity to introduce a last minute "saving grace" with the horrible kid that not only cant act, not only badly written but takes all the characters to a bad script dump with jokes that were small taking front ****. and the shows conclusion that tries to be meta is so **** dumb it hurts my bones. in the end there is no good thing i can say about this season.
