Mar 5, 2014Senran Kagura Burst's strength is its sheer pace and energy. It's exciting and flashy, and thoroughly entertaining. I haven't enjoyed a brawler this much in a very long time; if only certain writers had given the game a go before dismissing it for something it isn't.
-
Nov 25, 2013Senran Kagura certainly has its issues - an inconsistent framerate, repetitive missions, and a sketchy, ecchi aesthetic that's likely to turn off as many players as it turns on - but it delivers an intoxicating blend of quick, combo-heavy combat that's an absolute blast to play.
-
Nov 20, 2013Bouncy, flouncy, and quite a bit of fun, this over-the-top brawler delivers equal measures of fan service and classic brawling gameplay with wanton glee.
-
Mar 1, 2014Senran Kagura Burst hides a satisfying combat system behind a shameless presentation which would piss any activist for women's rights off. It's Japanese to its very core and somewhat repetitive, still lots of fun.
-
Mar 3, 2014Behind its protagonists' breasts, there's a game that offers fast and crazy action, and that will deliver entertainment and fun at its core.
-
Nov 21, 2013If you're not offended by anime girls with ridiculously bouncy watermelon breasts in various stages of undress, there's an enormous game packed with hours of shallow-but-enjoyable narrative, tons of retro-style beat-'em-up fun, and a few guilty pleasures along the way.
-
Nov 19, 2013A solid brawler, just play it during your alone time.
-
Mar 10, 2014Yes, this video game contains a lot of boobs, but it is definitely more than that. It is a very nice fighting game, however a little repetitive. Nevertheless the nice animation style and fun characters will make you want to play it all the way through the end.
-
Mar 1, 2014Senran Kagura Burst is pure fan-service. It's combat system is good but boring and the graphics are not that sharp, but if you like these kind of experiences you'll find in this 3DS game a good friend to play with.
-
Feb 28, 2014Senran Kagura Burst is silly. Its presentation is silly, its combat is silly, and its whole reason for being is silly. Yet somehow, it’s compelling. Alongside the gratuitous boob and panty shots there’s a nice pair of intertwining stories here with amicably fleshed-out characters.
-
Jan 9, 2014Senran Kagura Burst may be repetitive in nature but knows how to remain fun.
-
Dec 11, 2013Senren Kagura: Burst is great in short 'bursts' of gameplay, but is it worth the social stigma of having something so blatantly perverted on your 3DS? I'm still trying to unlock everything after completing this review, so I guess it is.
-
Nov 14, 2013At the end of the day, whether or not you will enjoy Senran Kagura: Burst will ultimately come down to answering this question: do you pine to play a game where getting beat up means your character’s clothes become tattered, torn, or completely destroyed, revealing the half-naked body of an adolescent girl who just so happens to have absolutely titanic breasts? If you answered, “yes,” then Burst has a lot to offer: pulse-pounding combat, deep customization and a wealth of unlockables and content. If you answered, “no,” then all the best brawling mechanics in the world probably won’t make Senran‘s provocative, shinobi schoolgirl pill any easier to swallow.
-
Games Master UKMar 10, 2014It's ultimately let down by a wheezing framerate and the inability to play within 20 metres of a fellow human being. [Apr 2014, p.78]
-
Feb 28, 2014Never mind the uncomfortably dubious gender politics, the biggest offence here is the inability to capitalise on rock-solid action foundations.
-
Mar 24, 2014A decent brawler, clearly dedicated to fans of Japanese pseudo-erotic world. It gets a bit tiring in the long term, even though there's a lot to unlock and to fight for.
-
Mar 25, 2014Senran Kagura Burst is tailored to a very, very specific segment of the audience who will appreciate its peculiar humor. For other parts of the audience, there's the enormously disproportionate cartoonish female breasts, but a game cannot live off that alone. A flawed frame rate that becomes incredibly frustrating at some points and excessive repetitiveness make this a passable offer, to be considered only by those attracted by the game's humor and style.
-
Mar 20, 2014It’s basic, has no depth and is far from being one of the best games for 3DS, but it's still a good distraction.
-
Mar 13, 2014Quotation forthcoming.
-
Feb 26, 2014A solid, if basic, side scrolling beat em up.
-
Nov 29, 2013People can say what they will about the game's sexual content; Senran Kagura Burst's real failings are in its gameplay and its level design. Were those deficiencies addressed, it would be a solid title.
-
May 21, 2014Boobs aside, Senran Kagura Burst feels a bit mediocre—it's not a bad beat-'em-up, but it's not one of the best.
-
May 19, 2014Just as is the case with bras, Senran Kagura Burst has been modeled around the female anatomy. In this case, around the gigantic breast of these Japanese schoolgirls. Removed the itch, the entire apparatus is deflated and what remains is a fast-paced but trivial beat-em-up.
-
Mar 14, 2014Rure fan-service. Too bad that the hack'n'slash-style of gameplay doesn't work well, and it's too simple and repetitious.
-
Dec 2, 2013It's cheap, sweet candy with little nutritional value that might make you sick after a while.
-
Dec 6, 2013Senran Kagura Burst offers players a maelstrom of mammaries and more innuendos that you can shake your stick at. However, the poor presentation and repetitive gameplay make the experience as boring as it is creepy.
-
Mar 6, 2014Never mind the sexism, the awful gameplay is the primary reason you should be avoiding this shockingly poor beat ‘em-up.
