Sep 23, 2015If you missed Devil Survivor 2 the first time around, or even Record breaker on its release earlier this year, it's one of those RPGs that "there's never a bad time" to jump in.
-
May 4, 2015It has two campaigns, deep, rewarding gameplay, a story that goes from good to better to amazing and plenty of added value, even for those who already finished the game on DS.
-
Nov 11, 2015It was an excellent SRPG on the DS, in its 3DS remake Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, while not much better technically, keeps intact all of its qualities and adds a new storyline about 30 hours long. Complete, varied, engaging, long and entertaining, it is a must for all fans of the genre and really recommended for every videogamer.
-
Oct 30, 2015Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker is a fantastic handheld RPG with a deep combat system, characters that you care about, and a well-delivered story. Returning fans will also find plenty to enjoy here too, whether it’s the new difficulty settings, voice-acting, or the fresh story arc. As such, Devil Survivor 2 takes its place amongst the best the Nintendo 3DS has to offer.
-
Jul 1, 2015And with a solid gameplay, an engaging cast of characters and lots of hours of adventures, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker is a more than worthy entry in the long running series.
-
May 13, 2015Devil Survivor 2 was already an enormous game, but Record Breaker nearly doubles up on that with a new epilogue...It’s not easy, and it’s certainly not short, but Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker is one of the best strategy role-playing experiences available for the 3DS.
-
May 4, 2015For fans of the original version, perhaps the epilogue alone isn't enough to justify the price, but for those who don't know the original, this is the best moment to discover this amazing RPG.
-
May 4, 2015Record Breaker is a masterful retelling of an already amazing SRPG. Engaging battles, a wonderful cast of characters, in-depth meta-systems and a great atmosphere make this one of the best strategy handheld experiences ever.
-
May 4, 2015It’s a no brainer for anyone who missed this gem of an SRPG when it first released and a worthwhile purchase even to those who have already experienced the original just to play through the new content.
-
May 4, 2015It's a strong story with fun characters, clever tactical RPG and choice-based visual novel gameplay, an interesting, apocalyptic setting rich with Japanese culture, and plenty of replay value.
-
May 4, 2015An extraordinary 3DS RPG filled to the brim with quality content.
-
May 4, 2015Whether you're a longtime MegaTen fan or just enjoy deep, strategic RPGs, you'll have a great time with Record Breaker, so summon up your courage and sign in to Nicaea; you won't regret it.
-
May 25, 2015Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 — Record Breaker is more of the same with a bit of polish.
-
Dec 29, 2015A great 3DS edition of a game that was already very good on the DS. This version has many improvements and additions, and the new storyline adds much more value and length, although its visuals haven't evolved much.
-
Nov 9, 2015Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2 was and still is a great RPG. Record Breaker is just an very good excuse to replay it, discover it or get back to it.
-
Nov 13, 2015While Overlocked was bug-ridden, this is a convincing port of Devil Survivor 2 with added bonus content. Fans of tactical role-playing games can look forward to a challenging addition to their library.
-
Nov 25, 2015It’s even better than the original game, thanks to the added campaign and the full dub. Definitely a must have for jrpg lovers on 3DS.
-
Nintendo Force MagazineSep 30, 2015I can see myself going back to it every so often. [Issue #16 – July/August 2015, p.73]
-
Jun 17, 2015This update to a DS classic doesn't give you much in terms of hardware upgrades, but the additional campaign and gameplay changes make Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker worth playing for a second time, or a first time if you skipped the first release.
-
May 21, 2015Against all odds, these competing mechanics come together and form something that feels complete — a game where a player-driven story supports a brain-taxing strategic component supporting tense, classic JRPG battles.
-
May 4, 2015While Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker isn’t the full 3DS remake some might hope, it’s still a bigger, better version of what was already a fantastic, engrossing strategy-RPG twist on Atlus’ beloved demon-summoning series.
-
May 4, 2015With all of its content and features, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker is the definitive version of the game.
-
Dec 6, 2015Its gameplay is marvelously addictive and it follows a well constructed plot that will keep players holding on to it for dozens of hours on end. A very recommended proposal for fans of the series and for newcomers who feel curious about it.
-
Nov 12, 2015An excellent example of how to blend genres and produce something of excellent quality and value.
-
Oct 29, 2015One of the best strategy role-players on any format, especially with the brand new scenario and mountains of content in this new 3DS version.
-
May 17, 2015The definitive edition of the game, and should be a no-brainer for existing fans of the series. Newcomers shouldn't miss out either, as it presents deep, meaty gameplay and narrative experience that puts paid the notion that portable platforms can't be home to true enthusiast fare.
-
May 10, 2015Both old fans and new will get an excellent experience. This is the perfect chance to get close to this franchise for the ones that do not know Shin Megami Tensei.
-
May 6, 2015If you missed out the first time around, you should absolutely hop on board for this extended trip to the Apocalypse. If you’re coming back for seconds, you’ll have a terrific time welcoming our new Triangulum overlords with Megido blasts right to their stupid geometric faces.
-
May 5, 2015Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Surivor 2 Record Breaker is a worthy follow-up to the original and is a terrific example of a well-made enhanced port, something Atlus has shown time and again that they are experts at.
-
May 5, 2015In all, this is a hefty and well-crafted RPG, and it puts a great spin on the time-tested rules of MegaTen.
-
May 4, 2015Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker has a good, lengthy story built on a solid system.
-
May 4, 2015Make no mistake — it’s a compelling, challenging and rewarding JRPG in it’s own right, but with little fresh content and some lingering accessibility issues, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 might not be the title everyone was hoping it to be.
-
May 4, 2015Essentially the title is two full games (well, since the second one starts on Tuesday instead of Sunday, I guess it's more like one and three quarters), and well worth the pick up for anyone who may have missed this spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei.
-
May 4, 2015Whether you've played Devil Survivor 2 or not, you can't go wrong picking up this edition. It's a standalone game, so those who haven't played the Devil Survivor series can easily start here. The intense battles and demon fusion kept me hooked, and the new content offers plenty of the same fun.
-
May 4, 2015Because it was a 2012 DS game, the first release of Devil Survivor 2 flew under the radar of a lot of strategy RPG players. If you’re one of those, or want something that can take up a lot of time, then Record Breaker should be on your radar.
-
Dec 3, 2015Devil Survivor 2 is not even close to Atlus’ finest moment, but it is a very fine game nonetheless. It does a good job of offering a narrative with thematic depth, and mixes in well with some deep character development and monster fusing mechanics. If it wasn’t for the generally uninspired effort to pull the game into shape from a visual perspective, it would be in the running to be one of the better examples of the genre on a console loaded with them.
-
Nov 27, 2015It feels largely unchanged from its predecessor, but the general core systems it is based on are well refined enough that it still offers a good challenge for those with the patience to tackle it.
