Oct 18, 2013This game is even better on handheld than on console. Sonic looks amazing.
-
Oct 18, 2013Sonic Lost World is a fun and easy experience, with a good level design and an excellent attention to detail. This is one of the best portable Sonic games since the times of the unlucky Neo Geo Pocket.
-
Nov 25, 2013While some infrequent instances of poor game design prevent the game from being an absolute success, it's still a very worthy entry in the Sonic franchise that can keep up with and, in some areas, even surpass its home console counterpart.
-
Oct 22, 2013The first true-3D Sonic handheld game is an entertaining piece of software, despite some camera issues and collision detection problems.
-
Oct 21, 2013Considering how disappointed we were with Generations, Lost World is the Sonic game 3DS deserved. The wealth of tricky environments, hidden items and even four-person races for ambitious players make it a worthwhile purchase, even at $39.99.
-
Oct 18, 2013I never thought I'd type these words into a video game website, but here goes... Sonic Lost World is a very good 3D Sonic game and you should buy it immediately.
-
Oct 18, 2013There are faults, however, such as a few terrible design decisions that can make things incredibly frustrating on occasion. However, if you can get past those issues, you’ll see a game that picks some of the best elements of modern and classic Sonic games and combines them with new elements to make the Blue Blur feel fresh again.
-
Oct 18, 2013A worthy companion to the Wii U version, it's a very good game and an interesting take on handheld 3D platforming, something still in short supply on 3DS.
-
Oct 22, 2013Despite the big problems with the control system, the intriguing level design of Sonic Lost World makes it an excellent platform.
-
Nov 8, 2013Sonic fans will have a great time and 3DS owners should take a look at this ambitious title.
-
Oct 31, 2013In conclusion, Sonic Lost World is an above average game on the 3DS that unfortunately has a few issues with the control system which sometimes challenges the gamer when the clues or pathways are not that clear in the gaming world.
-
Oct 18, 2013It isn't as spectacular as the Wii U version of the game, but it's more true to the Sonic gameplay and even more fun in terms of control and variety.
-
Oct 22, 2013Sonic’s sensation of speed is mostly intact and most stages look impressive, but Sonic: Lost World stumbles due to poor level design.
-
Dec 13, 2013While Sonic Lost World isn’t a terrible game, I feel as though Sega missed the mark quite a bit here. The controls are very touchy and at times downright horrible, the auto-target feature can get you into trouble with the homing attack, and the novelty of the Special Stages wears off quickly.
-
Oct 18, 2013Sonic Lost World on 3DS is a double faced beast: interesting and enjoyable at first, frustrating and boring later. Sometimes it's even difficult to understand what's happening on the screen, other times everything works as intended. Nothing less, nothing more.
-
Oct 18, 2013After some good portable experiences, Sonic returns with a very weak game, with many design-related issues, and offering a game that only those Sonic fans willing to forgive all its problems will enjoy.
-
Nov 3, 2013Sonic: Lost World is yet another disappointment considering the premise and games it was pulling ideas from.
-
Oct 18, 2013Again, it’s a shame, because there’s good here, but it’s often buried beneath a quagmire of frustration...So, yes, this is a better game than its more powerful counterpart, but Lost World on the 3DS, despite a few excellent asides, remains a largely average, occasionally frustrating outing for Sonic. Again.
-
Oct 29, 2013Sonic Lost World on 3DS is a good Sonic game. While it doesn’t reach the same heights as Sonic Generations or the Wii U racer Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, it’s certainly better than where the franchise was headed just a few years ago.
-
Oct 18, 2013Sonic Lost World is filled with many missteps that make it disappointing. Instead of being a good Sonic game, it is just a below average 3D platformer. Despite his speed, the blue blur could not keep up with anyone’s expectations of the game, nor be entertaining in his own right.
-
Oct 29, 2013Nintendo’s handheld systems used to be the last refuge for quality Sonic titles, but the series’ awful 3D gameplay has infected that lineage with Sonic Lost World. This portable version of Sonic’s latest adventure hits the same sour notes as the recent console games, while maintaining the subpar side-scrolling feel established in the 3DS version of Sonic Generations.
-
Oct 29, 2013What could be a fluid experience and well organized in terms of design, gives place to a number of gaps and inconsistencies that prevent the game to achieve the desired success.
-
Oct 25, 2013Even with the promise of challenging friends in races or posting ever-improving time scores, Sonic Lost World is instantly forgettable. Every once in a while a title comes around that acts as a yardstick for what we can consider to be truly “Mediocre”. It just so happens that Sonic Lost World is perfectly suited for this role
-
Oct 21, 2013Despite Dimps' technical prowess, this portable version doesn't manage to emulate its Wii U counterpart, the extended length of the levels underlying its issues rather than developing the overall experience in a mobile way.
-
Oct 18, 2013Sonic Lost World on Nintendo 3DS starts as an enjoyable ride which lasts until technical problems, a mediocre design and some really frustrating gameplay elements come up and crash the party.
-
Oct 18, 2013In trying to incorporate 3D environments and ideas from the Wii U title, Dimps has rather tied Sonic's red boots together, causing him to often stumble and fall.
-
Oct 18, 2013The result is a game that’s passable in both sense of the word. Passable as in ‘it’s alright and not completely broken’ but also, ‘you’ll probably want to pass on this one’.
-
Oct 18, 2013Unfortunately, Lost World tries to pack in so many mechanics that it suffocates the rapid-fire platforming segments, which are breathless when all the mechanics are suited to Sonic.
-
Games Master UKNov 27, 2013Great potential squandered by unimaginative level design and cheap mechanical failings. [Christmas 2013, p.82]
-
games(TM)Nov 14, 2013The combat ideas are awfully implemented. [Issue#141, p.108]
-
Nov 5, 2013Sonic: Lost World on the 3DS is a flawed, disappointing game that unlike its Wii U sibling you should definitely avoid.
-
Oct 18, 2013It fails as a 2D sidescroller, it fails as a 3D platformer, and on a system that has no short supply of absolutely amazing examples of both of those genres, Sonic Lost World is absolutely inexcusable.
-
Oct 18, 2013Sonic: Lost World doesn't respect its past or its potential for change. But worse, it disrespects the players it depends upon. Lost World's variety and ideas are impressive, but when I can't depend on running, jumping and hopping on enemies to work, each new wrinkle added on top of that just feels like a chore.
-
Oct 21, 2013Sega obviously tried to emulate aspects of Super Mario Galaxy or other 3D Mario games to make this leap in the Sonic series, but Sonic: Lost World suffers with each “feature” they have added to the Sonic’s successful formula: running and jumping.
