A multiplayer gimmicky spin-off of one of the greatest video game series ever ? Ahahah, silly Nintendo. What are they going to announce next ? A multiplayer gimmicky chibi/football version of Metroid ? Ahah... Ah... Aaaaah...

I get it, this is a multiplayer game, and is designed as such. Unfortunately I don't have the means to play it with friends, and online doesn't appeal to me due to one too many bad experiences.

As a solo player, this game is utterly boring. It carries the Zelda licence, but could easily be rebranded. It doesn't offer anything to me that I love in other Zelda games. An interesting

An interesting idea to be sure, and I imagine it is far superior with others, but if you want to play alone, avoid this.

This game is mild fun. The puzzles are hardly challenging, and most of the grins come from chucking each other off of cliffs accidentally, but its good for a giggle. It's especially frustrating when you've found a group you like to play with.

I'd say wait for this to go down in price, it feels more like a $20 purchase than $40, but by then I don't know if you'll be able to find people online anymore.

this title reminds back when they made the puzzles co-op on the GBA. and it forced me to play with my older brother, who i dont get a long with.
this is a major let down for fans of LBTW.
playing with random people, since i dont have other friends with 3DS's...seems like it would be more frustrating to rely on someone who could be a 10 year old, trying zelda for the first time. would of

would of loved the co-op being something you can choose, rather then need.
too agrivating to solve already somewhat tedious puzzles, as 3 different people. its not mario march of the minis! doesnt really seem like a true zelda title...which is very disappoitning considering how amazing its predecessor was.
if you happen to know 2 good pals still into zelda games, that actually have 3DS's...i could imagine it would of been much more enjoyable.
that is not the case with most players. and random online people can ruin entire levels, either by taking too long, or raging because you got to a chest before they did.
mediocore game at best. not worth retail. but doubt the online option to play with random people will be even relevent in a year or so.

Feels more like a mini game included on a main entrance of the franchise. The level design and the puzzles are so repetitive I lost complete interest on the game after a couple of hours.

Ok, If you have three friends that are iynto this game you'll enjoy it, if not look away.
Basically Tri-Force Heroes is a four swords game, minus the purple link and with a ridiculous setting and story, even for a Zelda game.

Playing by yourself, is tedious and boring, since your other two links won't follow you around like previous Four swords installaments, you have to manually control each one of them, constantly pausing your progress by trying to have the three Links togheter, the totem mechanic helps a little but not much.
Also the alternate suits are just a gimmick, while useful they are not mandatory, is possible to ignore all of them and complete the game with the regular gear, they don't have the pull or depth of the transformable mask for Majora's Mask or the tunics from Ocarina of Time, since those were key to advance to their respective games.
The dungeons are linear and fairly standar, wich is not a bad thing when palying with other two players, but solo they get boring and slow paced, due to the constant Link switching.
Overall is just an in Between title until Zedla for the wiiU comes up, if you enjoyed previous Four swords game this game may like you, but in the single player aspects it takes several steps back.

I guess It's my fault for choosing a multiplayer-focused game when none of my friends have 3DS's so the gameplay suffers.

It's really hard to give this Game a Chance as Zelda fan. Honestly i really would prefer if this game never would be released (or at least not under the name "The Legend of Zelda"). It's not a Bad Game, but you have not really a Quest (even the Special Missions are not a bonus Quest, it only make the level more difficult).

A Zelda title should be fantastic, have a simple but good and stable story, with much details around, even the missions have riddles who you love or hate, but not this Time. You got one of three options.

First: play Solo (i wish it would be a different adventure)
Second: you play with Friends (if you got well Zelda players this game ist just easy, in a bad way easy ... its just no challenge)
Third you play with Strangers (not only your connection could got some Problems sometimes, also you have to be Lucky to get two guys who at least understand the very minimalistic communication path, or this adventure will be something between impossible and very hard, except you got a good group).

I think as Zelda title this is a Total fail (i mean your main story (so far you can call it existent) is boring, the riddles are mostly to simple. It only looks like Zelda but it does not feel like it would be any Zelda in this game except the character and enemy set).

If you ignore, that this game should be a fantastic, a Game full of amazing Riddles, a simple but still good Story and Characters who are deep, special and full of details then it's a cool short time Adventure game with a little challenge, but its still just a good game and it could be so much more.

I know how hard it is to make everyone happy, but a game where is more about cloths then the Riddle is just not my type of Game, even less if you call it Zelda, you should call it Cloths Up Heroes or something like this. And make new enemy's and a different field set.

The puzzles in the game have the perfect balance of being clever but not painfully difficult. The game's story is a bit goofy, but that's not something you'd play this game for. The best experience is to play the game with friends, but you'll have almost as much fun with strangers, assuming there's no griefers. You can play the game alone, but it's nowhere near as fun that way.

Playing with strangers, though fun, can be a mixed bag. You can find yourself struggling to death trying to get past one part of a puzzle just because you fall in a lag storm, as if you're trying to play the game on a dial-up modem. This is hellish torture on the harder levels and bosses. Take note that there's no form of chatting for the with-strangers multiplayer, so the only form of communication is just a select of emotes and player animations.

    Pros
+Three player based but also supports single player
+Multiple costumes to choose with different abilities and appearances
+8 areas with 4 levels each with extra optional challenges
    +Challenging and fun puzzles
+Skip feature for those who get stuck, also works against boss battles

    Cons
-Single player raises difficulty/challenge curve a lot
-Due to the fact that the game is based entirely on MP, SP content is low
-Unlocking costumes require a lot of grinding/replaying levels
-Lacks two player option, stuck to 1 player or 3 player
-MP is bare bones when it comes to options

It should work in theory; after all, Nintendo found some success in that idiom with The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords on the Game Boy Advance, and its console counterpart Four Swords Adventures on Nintendo GameCube. In practice, however, Tri Force Heroes is a frustrating, boring slog. I was never once able to find more than one person in an online lobby to join me in three-player co-op, as intended by the game's designers; and this was within the first six months of release, when there should have still been at least *some* interest in the game. Consequently, I was forced to make my way through the game's myriad puzzles -- all designed for three human players working together -- by myself, switching among three Link clones. Eventually, I hit a boss fight about midway through the game that proved impossible to win on my own, and I gave up. If nothing else, I hope Nintendo has learned that Zelda is one of those game series that just doesn't work well with online multiplayer shoehorned in. Expand

Caters to hardcore Zelda fans who want to pass the time while waiting for the next full breed Zelda-entry: The Legend of Zelda WiiU. It has moments of fun puzzle experiences, but it requires you to have 1-2 good friends you can go on a local network.

Despite being a low budget game built with assets from A Link Between Worlds, Tri Force Heroes is a great Zelda designed for co-op. [13/2015, p.74]
